I searched through a lot of threads, but got some conflicting info:

When mixing indigo, some said let it sit for about 10 minutes, others said use immediately

Some people also said add salt to the mixture. What does that do?

So should i let it sit or use it immediately?

Do i need the salt? What kind? (sea salt, table salt, epsom salt, etc)

How long are you letting it sit for maximum color release?

Do you shampoo & deep condition afterwards or just deep condition?

Thanks!

I not sure but londondiva has a good tutorial in her fotki and a link to a henna for hair website that have an ebook on the process and what to put in it

When I do indigo all I use is Hot water till desired consistancy.
I let the indigo/hot water sit for 10min then apply it to my hair covered with plastic cap for 1 hr No heat.
Rinse completely, then coat my hair with conditioner to give extra help with the rinse out, rinse again, shampoo, deep condition for 30 min w/ heat, rinse out, leave-in or whatever style as ussual

When I apply indigo, I mix it with warm water and use it immediately. You can add 1/4 teaspoon of salt (any salt, it does not matter) because it does help stain a little darker. I let indigo stay in my hair with a plastic cap for 2 hours. I always shampoo to get everything out of my hair. I've heard many that may have just used conditioner, and that worked just fine. Then I dc overnight. HTH
