What should I do...

I don't know about correctives but my hair is "under processed". My roots have a bit of texture when wet that goes away completely when I roller set or wrap. My ends are bone straight (thanks to an overzealous, old school beautician classmate when I was in cosmo school). How bad is the under processing? If you are worried about the corrective maybe you can wrap or roller set until you feel more confident about your hairs ability to withstand the process?

Veejee, what I can share with you is information I've been able to study here on the board, since I'm still considered a newbie. However, I did find this thread, which may be able to help: http://www.longhaircareforum.com/showthread.php?t=17553&highlight=damaged

It doesn't seem wise, though, to have a corrective done before you've handled the damage. Your natural hair looks beautiful. What is it that you don't like about it that you feel the need to change? HTH

Thanks for replying. I was actually inspired my Machiourie (sp). I figured I can have a relaxer and have long thick hair too (minus the bleach I guess). So I was looking forward to just rollersetting my hair like back in the day. I didn't want to depend on any heat except for what blows out of a hood hair dryer. I just had my hair relaxed last week professionally. I had relaxed with a mild relaxer 3 weeks prior and was still walking around with curly hair like a perm never touched it!

I will see what the beautician says tomorrow, but I'll rollerset it none-the-less. Thanks again.

Thanks. Those pictures are pre-relaxer to show the health of my hair prior to relaxers and to show the color of the highlights. I guess I need to take a picture of my now double-processed relaxed hair. I don't like how humidity make some parts of it slightly frizz while other parts stay straight. I really get the feeling that I should've let the hightlights grow out THEN have had it relaxed. So should I just let the lady look at it then have it rollerset? I just hate to depend on flatirons to get rid of frizz. Flatirons KILL my ends and hair with or without a relaxer.:wallbash:

Thanks so much for that link. I'll have my beautician look at my hair tomorrow and postpone the corrective. I'll going to purchase all of the products listed and try to strengthen my hair.

I think the bigger mistake was relaxing it 3 weeks after your first attempt than relaxing over highlights. Some (few, but some) can have healthy relaxed hair that is colored...its just they have to have the right timing between the two processes and condition condition condition....also I think if you are relaxed AND colored u should avoid heat like the plague lol.

I think you can stop the breakage and your hair will be fine. Im texlaxed now, but even when I was bone straight there were sections of my hair that just would not take relaxers no matter what. Im thinking with a rollerset it should smooth out the frizzy parts. If I were you I wouldnt do a corrective...now that Im thinking back my hair used to be just like that (straight roots, frizzy middle, straight ends) and I let a stylist do a corrective and over time my hair broke off so bad that I BC'd and went natural. I shouldve just dealth with the two textures, which was a better alternatitive to losing my hair.

PS You and your hair are beautiful!

First off :bighug: sorry you are having to go through this, Have you done a protein treatment yet?

Thanks for replying. :spinning: After reading your advice I'm DEFINETLY going to leave this mess alone. :pullhair: My hair grow pretty fast when I take a multi-vitamin and LAWD help if I use viviscal my eyebrows will have over my whole face...lol. I'll think I'm going to order some viviscal and help speed up the growth to get the color out of my hair. The hair underneath that's still black and minus any highlights relaxed perfectly and it didn't fluff up in the humidity..lol. :pepper: So there is hope!

I know one thing I don't want to fool with my natural hair it's toooooo muchhhh work, I don't have it in me. I'll just get the new hair retouched every 10-12 weeks, rollerset it once or twice a week and clip this stuff up. I can't wait til it's all black again.

Again, thanks so much can't nobody tell you like somebody that's been there. I can stand to see any more breakage so I'll leave well enough alone!!!.

Thanks for the virtual hug sis. :peace: I just came back from Sally's I bought some Aphogee, Porosity control and I have some Humecto so I'm going to follow the directions in the link above to make sure I don't get anymore breakage. Thank goodness it's only on one side of my hair and very close to my bangs. Surprisingly my hair still has quite a bit of tensil strength even in the blond relaxed parts (my hair is medium textured and very strong) the protein should definetly stop it in it's tracks! I have some hope thanks so much everybody.;)
