I always wonder if the ppl with weaves feel as if they didn't really get a makeover when they take the weave out.

They are talking about how black women don't like to cut their hair... they are calling it a 'cultural' thing.
I always wondered the same thing. I think giving somebody a weave on a makeover for a special event they're going to is one thing. But to put a weave on somebody to show them how their everyday look should be seems unrealistic. Why not show them how to make their own hair look flyy?
I'll watch at least some of the show. It should be coming on 5 minutes.
The show just started where I am and I think that it's funny that Oprah is having a show called "the great American haircut makeover" (or something like that) and yet her own hair is long.

Sooo... In general, they chopped of the long-haired folks' hair and put weaves on the ones with short hair. Man, I feel sad for the black women whose hair got chopped (especially since they could have gotten a good wig for the same effect)
erplexed.
I'm at work. I get of at 5 so I am going to miss it. Let me know how it goes. I have a feeling they will be doing a lot of chopping and lots of soccer mom looks/ posh look. Let me know if I'm wrong.
IS that Oprah's real hair?
She mentioned that it took her 15 years to grow it that long, but sometimes... it just dont look real. I've always assumed that it was a weave or some manner of wig.
it looks good either way... and if its not hers, we all know she has more than enough money to make it as realistic as possible.
Sometimes she wears her hair and sometimes she doesnt.
Thats what I was thinking too... I just cant tell when it's real or when it has any help (which means her stylist are doing a good thing)
I noticed this also. Is straight hair in style right now? I think loose curls and waves are this season. Maybe it was just easier and faster to do the straight styles since they did 100 makeovers in 48 hours.Maybe it's just me, but I also noticed that everyone had straight hairstyles. People that had curly (ie 3b and beyond) had their hair straightened. What's up with that? They could have at least accentuated their curls or something.
O.K. I must be the only one so annoyed by the first five minutes of the Oprah show today that I couldn't watch the rest.erplexed
For me the first five min were like this: White girl in chair swinging hair talking about how she chopped off her hair, and how six months later, she says "As you can see it's REALLY LONG again." Then Oprah saying, "Ya'll (as in white people) can do that." Then the white girl saying , " I bet if you straightened your hair, it would be this long," and Oprah saying, "Naw, you don't understand, ..." Then me turning off the t.v. so as to not to endure another "Our hair doesn't grow like that" spiel.Between Oprah's views on hair growth and Tyra's take on weaves, it's no wonder LHCF women are gawked at like something from another planet!
(BTW I love them both, just differ in my views on hair
)
Maybe I jumped the gun, but I am tired of hearing about it, esp. since I sincerely believe that type 3/4 (esp 4) people have varying growth rates just like everyone else - some people's hair do grow faster and some slower. Straight hair does not automatically equal fast growth nor does hair growth get progressively slower the curlier the hair.
One day I believe that all hair types will have the products, tools, and knowledge necessary to be stunningly beautiful.![]()
