I'm getting ready to make a run to the corner store and maybe to the BSS to find a new dryer attachment in my green, yellow, and blue snap-on rollers w/ my black/white zebra printed scarf. Is that ghetto?:nono:

Why should I go through the manipulation of taking rollers out, combing through, only going to be gone for 20 mins and i gotta come BACK home and put rollers back in?

Me and my sister have arguments before leaving the house sometimes cause if i'm just going to walmart or to pick up some carry-out, why must i comb my hair out? I try to be stylish about it and at least match my scarfs w/ my top or something so i'll look semi-cute.

Oh, one time I did go to waffle house for breakfast with my parents and a head full of rollers and scarf. :ohwell:They thought i was nuts. I matched though! It was 8am and i was going back home to get in the bed.

Who else does this?

Go ahead and do it if you have to, that's what I say. I don't make it a habit but in circumstances like you said..I sure will in a heartbeat. I should comb my hair out to make EVERYBODY ELSE happy? I don't think so. If i'm comfortable enough to do it minding my own business, no one looking at me has the right to be uncomfortable about it and if they have a problem with it they need to get a life. I hear it often.."I hate when girls come out the house that way" even from other girls mouths and I wanna say "Does it give you a headache, does your eyes start rolling to the back of your head everytime you see a girl outdoors with a scarf on her head?" Geez...

:lachen:

I need more scarfs for days like that!! I'm good to go out the house with henna or a DC or just plain old loose hair I'm not ready to comb yet in a headscarf, and it's all good - esp. if I'm just making a quick run.

Not knocking anyone..................and I say this with love...............But this is a PET PEAVE of mine!

a quick run, not getting out of the car....oookay, but at a restaurant thats a no no (again for me). Damn, my attachment broke, I need another let me run to the BSS......oookay, I need to go to the mall to look for some shoes for tonight is a no no.

I can deal with my hair being wrapped around, but absolutley not rollers nor a scarf. Its like wearing my pj out and about.

So, I have in the past and thought I was looking okay. Then, I started noticing how other ppl were really looking in theirs and thought twice. So, now I don't do it.

I do if it's a quick run to the grocery store especially if I have it rolled to go somewher later that day or night and I don't want to comb it out. I don't mind rollers with a scarf I truly hate to see people just wearing a scarf tied up like they are going to bed out and about.

On a second thought, why not get a fly hat that you can wear? Like those big flop hats that Rhianna wears so that you can still wear your rollers or scarf under it. Nobody gots to know:sekret:

ditto...lol. In my opinion the whole point of doing your hair is to look presentable. So why go out looking unpresentable if you are putting so much effort forth to do the opposite (if that makes sense)? its almost like u are gonna go out with colorful rollers and then come home and take them out and then look nice...lol. But I guess its just a personal preference because Im one of those people who hates to go anywhere if I dont at least look halfway decent. If I have that rolled out of bed look and no effort into my appearance look...I just dont FEEL good. I find myself avoiding eye contact and feeling like I want to crawl under a rock on those few occasions where I run to the store with my hair all over my head, sloppy clothes, and no makeup.

I was taught that that was tacky. :nono: I went to the club one time and saw this girl with pin curls and clips in her head but that's another story. Do what you feel comfortable doing.

Yes I did that! I found a cute hat at Marshalls a couple weeks ago that I use to hide my scarf when its wrapped. You couldnt tell I had a scarf on and I was still stylish. I havent found a good enough flop hat to cover my rollers though.

It's funny, 5-10 years ago i would NEVER leave the house in rollers/scarf but I noticed as i get older I just don't care bout what people think in certain situations. Maturity I guess. People look & stare regardless.

No, no, no! Tackayy! How many times have you seen someone you went to school with and commented how tow up they look?

I know if I run into someone, I'll look damn good.

I think that you are allowed to go to the bss, drive thrus and the doctor looking however you want. Rollers anywhere else is a no-no. That being said, if you want to go out in your rollers then go out in your rollers. If people don't like it they can look away, and there 's no reason that you should embrace someone else's idea of presentable.

Girl, the ladies at my job come in on 3rd shift around 11-12am w/ their hair still wrapped, no scarf and some come in with a scarf and go sit at their desk like its 9am. Now THAT crosses the line. And youre supposed to be AS CUTE AS POSSIBLE when going to the club! Whats up with the pin curls?

We used to go to this little hole in the wall hopper club when I was younger. No dress code, kinda just wear what you want. It was really the only place you could go in town if you were between 18 and 21. People wore jeans and sneakers. We used to get cute but certainly not nice heels and dresses cute like we do for nice clubs. We used to love it though. We went every Friday night because it was free with a college ID and stayed open til 5 am. Only place in town you could hear club music like that. And it got hot as IDK what up in there because it was so many people.

I guess she had just got her hair done that day and didn't want it sweated out. I messed up a plenty a fresh hair do back in those days. That's why I started wearing wigs. I would wrap my hair underneath and but the wig on and it would stay straight and smooth. Or just wait until Saturday morning to get my hair done.

Eww! That reminds me of a lady I saw in my old work building. She was looking cute, make up on, nice suit....but her hair was in a wrap!!! I wanted to tap her shoulder and say "Um, do know your hair is still in a wrap, right?" Ahhhh!:nono:

hehe if you were going natural i'd say this would be perfect practice for what one may deal with along the way hehe.

being natural is like a box of chocolates; you never know (exactly) what you're gonna get (on any given day). :lachen:

man, forget it - it's 20 minutes tops, right. go on ahead to the bss with your rollers and scarf........who gives a kitty what other folks think  (but that's just me).

My mom used to do this, so I did, too. We thought nothing of going downtown with our rollers in. One time, I did a pony tail in the back and a pink sponge roller up front, like it was a barrette or something.:drunk:

When I got to college, I used to roller set my hair on Saturday afternoon. My hair wasn't dry by the time I had to go to the dining hall for dinner one day, so I wore my rollers (blue mesh) with a scarf. My girl and I got our dinner and sat at "the table" (mostly basketball players). They HAZED me over my rollers!! Thank goodness I'm thick-skinned, or I would have withdrawn from school right then and there.

I haven't been out in rollers since. Fly hats are the answer.

Just a thought: the older you get (especially past 30), the older you look when you don't make an effort regarding your appearance. Stepping out in rollers will make a 40 year old look 50 no matter how cute the scarf.:yep:

I used to, but now, hell no.

That's what my man is for.

"Baby, could you go drop this off at the bank for me pleassse"
*sits back under the dryer*

NEVER EVER! and I can't stand to see others do it. My mother always said that real women/ladies would never be seen outside of the house with 'that thing' on their heads or rollers....LOL. I just can't do it because of that. It's ingrained in me...lol. I'd put on a hat or cap instead.

ABSOLUTELY NOT!:nono: Leaving your house with rollers in your head is GHETTO and TACKY. My apologies if this is offensive, however; this is a definite NO NO.

I haven't ever done this. It's just one of those things I don't do. Go out with hair in rollers or scarfs or even go out in my pj's. It wouldn't be weird here though because I work in Wal-mart and people come in wearing pj's and with their hair wrapped all the time. I guess they are just getting groceries not going to a beauty pagent, but I feel weird doing it.

I could care less about what the next person thought. If I want to run out of MY house in whatever I bought then so be it. I never understood why other people care what the next person looks like. To each his or her own and do you.

To each their own. As for me, I feel it's important to look good no matter where I'm going, even if I'm coming right back home. It makes me feel good knowing I look good. :)

I wear my satin or silk scarf to protect my hair if there are weather conditions (wind, rain, etc.) and sometimes while driving. I wear my scarf so it looks nice and classy, removing it when entering my destination. ;)

I don't wear rollers out, but I will wear my scarf. A nice clean stylish one. I have my scarf on everyday before work out walking the dogs, driving to work, etc. Sometimes I hate to take it off when I get to work.

I have worn rollers out to go to a bank drive thru and had to endure the staring tellers. After that I never did it again... lesson learned :ohwell:
