Can Naturals Use Caruso Rollers?

I think that it would depend on your hair type. If you have type 2 hair, then probably so. Other than that... I really don't think so IMHO.

In my previous Caruso system, there are specific instructions for naturals. I posted something about it also. I'll see if I can find it.... :fan:

These are the instructions under the Black Hair section of my older Caruso system. Hair has to be completely dry first.

For Natural Hair (Press and Comb)
Soft, natural textures may be curled by carefully controlling the amount of steam. (For some coarse, natural textures, the rollers may not work well. For best results, coarse hair should be chemically treated). Follow this setting procedure:

1. Shampoo hair, removing all traces of oil/curl activator.

2. Blow dry hair smooth until completely dry.

3. Section hair first. Then steam rollers briefly -- no more than 2-3 seconds. (see "Steaming the Rollers" section).

4. Set by taking large sections and using the comb clip where necessary. (Comb clips hold short ends on the roller).

5. Wait 5 - 10 minutes (until moisture is evaporated). Or use a dryer for 2-3 minutes instead.

6. Remove rollers. If no dryer has been used, let the hair "air" for 5 minutes.

7. Comb and style.

Important:

Do not set hair that contains curl activator...gummy moisturizer...heavy oil...or any product that leaves hair feeling damp. The setting process will moisturize hair naturally. A light setting lotion may be used before setting for extra body only if the hair is thoroughly dry. After setting, a light spray of oil sheen or holding spray may be applied.

I was just looking at a box of caruso rollers for 9 bucks wondering if they would work on natural hair. Naturallady, do keep us posted.

Me too, I saw quite a few sets at Goodwill for $10 about a month ago. The only thing that kept me from buying them is that I didn't think they would work on my hair.

The foam made me a little nervous and I found several strands left on them when I took them out of my hair. Anyone else experience breakage with these rollers?

They work well (in little time) even on my flat-ironed, natural hair (no reversion), but I'm wondering if they should be reserved for special occasions and not used regularly....
