yesterday i went to a NEW hair salon just for a wash and curl. when i got there i decided to get a texlaxer:blush:. i had been contemplating this for some time because i'm tired of having to watch the weather forecast to decide if i'm going to wear my hair out!:nono: i also go to a spin class 2x, soon to be, 3x a week and do more exercise. i wanted to have the luxury of working out and to still look good! initially, when i told the stylist that i wanted to get a texlaxer she was surprised and asked why and almost discouraged me but when i told her about my activities she totally understood and she said would take that frizz away:grin:. she used elucence relaxer which i didnt even know they made relaxers. it came out well, a little too straight when its wet. i was a little sad not to see all my waves and curls anymore. its soft and has alot of body. i was thrown off this morning because its a little humid here and my ends did puff up but not as bad as it usually does.
so now ladies, i need tips about what i should be doing to keep my newly relaxed hair healthy and thriving. what should i do now???:drunk:
thanks!!!

I say keep using Chi Silk Infusion. Get ORS Rep Paks, APHOGEE Two Minute Reconstructor (in the new bottle), ORS Shampoo, Proclaim Aloe & Shea Butter Moisturizing Shampoo, Proclaim Aloe & Shea Butter Moisturizing Conditioner and Lustrasilk Cholesterol Creme Conditioner. Just to name some good products I came accoss.

Once you wash and condition a few times, some of the texture will come back. I'm happy that you made a decision that was right for you. Your hair is gorgeous :)

thank you ladies!!
i'm soooooo afraid of protein though! i guess that is what my hair will be needing now. as a natural it totally did not agree with me:nono:

When you use a protein condish., you have to use a moisturizing condish. This is very important, I know my mix up hair needs it the mositurzing conditoner after any protein mild, medium or strong.

Congrats! :flowers:

Aveda (brilliant and DR treatment) is a good way to go. Lately I've been having a lot of success with Dom products (silicon mix treatment, salerm wheat germ mask, nadicit)

I've had he most success with texlaxed hair when I:
  • Only detangle once every week to two weeks
  • Condition dry hair with heat
  • Oil rinse
  • Henna

THANKS SARECA!!! that sounds good! you inspired me to texlaxed too:grin:
i just want it to be easier to manage

Hi girlie!!! Wow, you're texlaxed now! You'r natural hair was beautiful so I know your texlax is as well!

I don't have much to add except that I've found for my hair that having a protein/moisture balance worked wonders for me.

girl i was wondering where you were!!
i have to find that balance now. what do you use and how often? i'm telling you, i am sooooooooo scared to put some protein in my hair. i'm traumatized! i have the aveda dr intensive. i guess that will be enough?:look:

Hey Girl! I can't wait to see pictures..im sure it's beautiful! As far as advise I agree it's so important to have the protien/moisture balance in check. Other things that help me are...

Pre poos
weekly rollersets
keeping my ends moisturized-NTM Silk Touch Leave-In :yep:
weekly DCing

AND WHERE HAVE U BEEN??!?!?! i was about to send a search party out for you missy pooh!
so you like the ntm??
i think i will give rollersets a try now. i really would like to do that. but i'm wondering how that will work out with me working out more.
thanks for the great advice. oh and i also bought the d/c by origins. it really softens my hair really nicely.
one more question too, for anyone...now that i just got the texturizer, should i do a reconstructor this weekend? i thought i recalled someone saying that in something i read earlier this week. like, what does my hair absolutely need after JUST getting relaxed??

 Girl, you know I had to come in and see about my girl! I use a homemade spritz in a spray bottle. I use it daily or every other day when I'm wearing a protective style, but I don't really use it on the days that I wear my hair down. In my mixture I have distilled water, MNT the original conditioner (light protein), Elucence conditioner (moisture), and some sort of oils (usually castor, jojoba, and sweet almond oils).

And of course, you know I use my beloved Aveda products and alternate between the DR and one of the moisture lines. I going to start back to incorporating Dominican products for deep conditioning (since Aveda doesn't really have a deep conditioner) as well.

When I do rollersets with small rollers (to get the spiral effect/tighter curl), my hair holds up great even when working out regularly. It doesn't hold so well when I use the big rollers (to get straight/swaning look). My hair is very fine/thin so that could be the why.:ohwell:

oh so did you get that pibbs yet???
now that i'm texturized i may REALLY be in line to buy one now. i think i will try the rollersetting like you suggested...hmmm...
