I think this applies mostly to 4a/b as I have not had this thought when seeing other hair types naturally. I could be wrong.

Imagine a little girl with about 6 neat plaits on her head with 4/b hair. The mother then loosens the plaits. She does nothing else.

This is no braidout.:nono:

The child's hair is sticking up in all different directions. Not a comb, brush nada, nothing put to the child's hair. have you seen this lately?

Now. Imgaine that child is an adult. Grown ass woman (50+ looks like) wearing that hairstyle AS I TYPE. Mind you, I have seen other women rocking the uncombed, untamed, natural look as of late.

AGAIN, IMO, this is no braidout :nono:

WWUT (what would you think?).

are you talking about me:lachen::lachen::lachen::lachen::lachen:

No that is not a style to me.

The braid out must be finger combed and lifted at the roots (all parts must be covered) to make it look sort of like a chunky, fluffy 'fro. And it always looks neater with a head band to push it back. Well, this is how I do it anyway.

I take it you have just seen a busted hairstyle outta street :lachen:

As i'm sure you already know, no matter what your hairtype is 1 - 4b it should groomed.

It sounds like a HAM to me, :nono:but some people do not separate or pluck out their braidouts and twistouts. They just leave them as is once they take them out. :ohwell:

See....ladies...that was what I was thinking.... that ain't no style!

baby: doubt it was you! i'm looking at ole girl right now. :drunk:

Yet, I see it more often now than before. Young 20ish ladies and older ones. Then, they looking at me, looking at them, thinking wtf, why don't you do something with your hair!

Is this a new trend or have braidouts taken on a new meaning?

ETA: I wish I could sneak a pic of her hair. I don't know how.

Errrrrm, no. When I do braid outs, I part the hair in the direction I want it to fall in once I unbraid. Because my hair is thick, it takes at least a dozen braids for it to not look crazy. I tend to aim for a braidout bob. No buckwheat here!

I swear folks be thinkin' just cuz you're natural you get a pass on style planning. Not!:lachen:

NOT THAT YOU MEANT IT, but when I read this, my first thought was that her hair looks like that bob guy on the simpsons with the wild hair.

omg, i can't breathe. i'm dying here :lachen::lachen::lachen: i pray dear Lord, that is NOT a new trend.

oooh yeah I was guilty (and still am at times) of the side show bob look. I can't help it man! If I seperate too much , I get frizz and no definition. I do use bobby pins tho. I dunno. I guess since they grown they can do what they want but I personally like to have some control to it nowadays.

No excuses at least for what *I* have seen. I wish i had a pic!

Somebody's got to do it!

I would think you must have seen me around the neighborhood!

Decades of messing with combs, brushes, frizz, trying to hide parts, make it lay down, do this that and the other thing...shoot - I'ma go 'head and look like Sideshow Bob! :spinning:

How about a new style term? There's "natural" and then there's WILD THANG! Where's my Jimi Hendrix CD?

When I undo my braids I usually don't lift at the roots or comb it out, I try to finger style but it doesn't always work. What looks hot to one person may be a hot mess to the other. To each his...or in this case her...own I guess :ohwell:

I like that - thinking of the Tone Loc (sp) song back in the day:grin:. Even though he was talking about something else:look:

There is a big difference between a braid out, a chunky fro and a free form fro yet all these styles can be achieved with various styles and sizes of braids. If it looks a mess it just looks a mess in my opinion but I have a very critical eye. Different styles looks better on certain people...
