Wow, I never knew that cream of nature was sulfate free. I love that stuff. It really help to detangle. Now I've heard that blended beauty stuff is good. Im going to get the soy cream shampoo soon. Also black soap is really good too. It get my hair a little too squeaky clean though, but it has a great lather.

Alterna TEN shampoo. Although I am an Aveda lover, I used Alterna for the first time last week, and my hair loved it. On the bottle it states,...A sulfate free cleanser that rebuilds and nourishes all hair types for customized hair results.

  • CON Detangling
  • Aveda DR
  • Trader Joe's Nourish Spa
CON is my favorite I like to alternate it with Trader Joe's which is clear and does not build up. Aveda DR is my luxury poo.

I like these:

Kenra Platinum Sulfate-Free Shampoo for thick, coarse hair
(All of the Kenra Platinum shampoos are sulfate free)

ABBA Moisture Scentsation Shampoo
ABBA Nourishing Shampoo
(I haven't tried it, but I think the ABBA Volumizing Shampoo is sulfate, as well)

Graham Webb Daily Strength Shampoo
(This one has lots of protein, but I really like it)

Yep:yep::

Pureology Nanoworks Poo

Pureology Superstraight Poo

I want to try Pureology shampoos. I actually have a sample of the Hydrate shampoo from this line. It is sulfate free, as well. I think I am going to use this sample with my next wash.

I use Avalon Organics. I didn’t know Crème of Nature was sulfate free. I’m going to have to pick that up. Are there conditioners also sulfate free? Hot diggity dog if so:)

I know some people here like Burt’s Bees!

Most conditioners don't have sulfates.

jessicurl cleansing cream (staple)

kenra platinum shampoo for thick coarse hair (backup)

abba creme moist shampoo

design essentials moisture retention conditioning shampoo old version in the white bottle (the new grey bottle contains ALS)

double check the ingredients on the abba shampoos, some of the new formulas now contain ALS (moisture scentsation, complete and nourishing shampoos)

FYI. I just purchased CON Shampoo and Conditioner from Target for $1.86 ea. You just can't beat that and the moisture that you get is great:grin:

I am looking at my bottle of Abba Moisture Scentsation Shampoo and it does not contain ALS. Maybe mine is an older formula? I only bought them recently, though.

Okay so today I went to a store that has Pureology on clearance. The only one they have left is the Super Straight shampoo. It says ZeroSulfate on the bottle, but here are the ingredients:

Botanicals of White Tea, Seaweed, Avocado Lipids (Certfied Organic), Sodium Lauryl Sulfoacetate, Disodium Laureth Sulfosuccinate, Sodium Cocyl Isethionate, Sodium Lauroyl Sarcosinate, Cocamidopropyl Hydroxysultaine, Cocamidopropylamine Oxide, Glycol Distearate, Decyl Glucoside, Amodimethicone, Trimethylsiloxyamodimethicone, C11-15 Pareth 7, Laureth 9, Glycerin, Trideceth 12, Cinnamidopropyltrimonium Chloride, Octinoxate, Butyl Methoxydibenzoylmethane (Sunscreens), Sunflower Seed Extract (Heliogenol), Melanin, Ascorbic Acid, Tocopheryl Acetate, Superoxide Dismutase (Antioxidants), Lauryl Alcohol, Hydrolyzed Oat Protein, Hydrolyzed Soy Protein, Wheat Amino Acids, Jojoba Esters, Shea Butter, Guar Hydroxypropyltrimonium Chloride, Dihydroxypropyl Peg 5 Linoleammonium Chloride, Silicone Quaternium 8, Dimethicone PEG 7 Avocadoate, Polyquaternium 7, Glycereth 26, Methylparaben, Propylparaben, Methylchloroisothiazolinone, Butylene Glycol, Methylisothiazolinone, Aroma Therapy Fragrance

I found this on Alba Bontanicals site:
Sodium lauryl sulfoacetate vs. Sodium lauryl sulfate
Although an ingredient's name may sound similar to another, it does not mean that the molecules are similar with respect to shape, size, performance or even function. Sodium Lauryl Sulfoacetate sounds similar to Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, however, the two molecules are quite different from each other. Sodium Lauryl Sulfoacetate is a large molecule ingredient. Large molecule ingredients are considered to be mild, gentle, and non-irritating, as they cannot penetrate the skin. In contrast, Sodium Lauryl Sulfate is a small molecule ingredient, and is capable of penetrating the skin, which can increase the occurrence of skin irritation.

I wonder if it is still as drying. None of my other Sulfate free poos have anything like that.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure all Pureology's shampoos are supposed to be sulfate free. I haven't tried the hydrate poo yet though. Did you get a sample of the onditioner too? I almost got the hydrate, but I was already over-doing it with all the other Purelogy products I bought.

Yes, I have the conditioner, as well. Pureology had a sample campaign going on about a year ago. I got samples of the Hydrate duo and the ReconstructRepair.

It's much milder than Sodium Lauryl Sulfate because most of it is derived from fruits like coconuts or vegetables. It's often used in children's products to avoid skin and eye irritation.

Here's more info:

Sodium lauryl sulfoacetate-
Derived from coconut and palm oils; a safe, skin-friendly surfactant (foaming agent) for both skin and hair.
This mild plant derived surfactant creates a rich, luxurious lather that effectively removes surface oil, dirt and bacteria, without stripping or drying sensitive skin. Sodium Lauryl Sulfoacetate is also hydrophilic. This means it is attracted to water, which enables it to dissolve more readily in water, thus providing superior rinseablility.
