Hello ladies,
I have been around LHCF for a while just learning, watching, and taking in as much info as possible.
I recently moved from the states to the island of Bermuda. Since May when I moved here, I have had to cut off at least 10 inches or more of my hair. My hair was almost waist length and now it is just past my shoulders. The climate here is very humid and my hair just frizzes up and gets dry, brittle, and unmanageable. It has been breaking really bad. Somedays it is so tangly I can't comb through it. I am very desperate for help. Any suggestions are welcome. I have a deep wave pattern to my hair and it is in a transitioning stage. I have been transitioning for more than a year now, so relaxer is still on some of my ends.
I currently have been deep conditioning every other day switching between a mask and aphogee intensive treatment. My hair is still breaking. Please help!

Welcome to the forum ! You say you're using aphogee every other day? On the days in between are you using a moisturizing conditioner? Since you say your hair has been dry and brittle, I'm thinking you are experiencing a protein overload. I live in a pretty temperate climate, so maybe someone living in a similar environment can offer you better advice.

Thats what I was going to say too. Isn't the aphogee a strong protein treatment?? That sounds like waaay to much to be doing that every other day. Your hair is thirsty for moisture right now. Do you cowash?

Welcome to the board!!

I would stop using aphogee for a while. You seem to have overdosed on protein. Work on increasing the moisture levels in your hair for 2 weeks or so and see if you see improvement. I used to get constant breakage. I finally figure out I was using too much protein. Leave it alone and see if it gets better.

Thanks Ladies I will try this and see how it works. I have the aphogee moisture conditioner as well as mizani moisturfuse; I use my moisturizing conditioners for a while and observe the results. Thanks again.

I also don't believe that you need to do a deep conditioning - moisture or protein - every other day. Perhaps try every three or four days. As for the tangles and frizziness, I recently posted links for these issues. You may want to check out the information.

In time, your hair will begin to stabilize.
