Does your hair love heat?

I just had to ask ---- How many of you still use heat (and how often) with success stories???

I'm tired of this no-heat crap. I've been looking like a dork all summer & i'm not about to return to school looking like Steve Erkel!

I was just looking at old hair pictures where i'd wash & use a flat iron once a week and with that regime my hair thickened out & grew. BUT, never did get past SL thanks to scissor-happy stylists....

So I really wanna know, do you use heat & get away with it? :perplexed

My hair is heat neutral. Meaning that i dont think it loves or hates heat. I hardly ever use heat especially during the summer months but b4 LHCF i used to get a dominican blowout and straighten my roots weekly without any damage. I had the same scissor happy stylist problem you had though.

My hair and direct heat never got along. My hair was dry, brittle, and full of splits. To this day, when I cheat, I can see splits a couple of weeks later. Its really weard. Heat splits my hair in the middle of the shaft. Since I stopped using direct heat my hair has flourished.

My hair HATES heat. Well, at least it hates excessive heat. My hair grows fast but the heat was always making my hair break off or making my ends look raggedy so I kept a short cut for a long time. When I gave up the heat that's when my hair started to thrive.
No more heat for me. I only use the Pibbs for rollersets and deep conditioning but I put that on medium anyway.
I'm so tempted to blow out my roots but NO NO NO....lol. I just can't do it.:nono:

I'm natural and straighten my hair once a month using heat and my hair strands are healthy and retains length.

I am in a similar situation, but I flat iron my hair a little more frequently. I do it about 3 times per month, about every week and a half. (I used to do it weekly, but I have become a little lazy. The longer it gets, the more work it takes.)

I have been off heat for about three weeks now. That is a MAJOR step for me cuz I used to use heat EVERYDAY without fail. I will tell you the truth-while my hair was never damaged or brittle, it is now a lot better feeling without heat. It feels like silk when I run my fingers through it. That is enough to convince me right there.

My hair does not love heat. It becomes dry, brittle and lacks moisture and elasticity, leading to eventual breakage. Heat kept me at shoulder length until I gave it up years ago. I will say that it was easier to manage my hair better with heat, just blow dry that sucker and go. After LHCF, I slowly, stubbornly gave up the blowdryer and when I saw the dramatic results, I slowly stubbornly gave up the hood dryer. I was in denial at first, just didn't want to give up the quick and easy, it was HARD!

I spend more time air drying my hair now, but hey, I'm worth it! I haven't used any type of heat in years and my hair is the longest, healthiest, thickest I've ever had, my family is in awe (LOL) . . .

I've been using heat once a week for a few months now and my hair is actually thriving and growing. :yep: I had more damage when I wasn't using heat go figure. :perplexed

Same here. Now with the humid months I'm gonna flat iron the roots after rollersetting instead of blow drying them...One swipe of the iron and I won't need to touch it again till the next wash day.

I don't think my hair loves heat, but it performs well with it now that it is healthy. Nothing in excess is a good thing IMO :nono:.

I mainly air dry my hair. I always have heat used on my hair when I get a relaxer touch up. My hair doesn't react negatively to heat, but I wouldn't want to overdo it (just in case).

My hair prefers indirect heat as opposed to direct heat. If I use too much direct heat, my hair will rebel. I'd have splits galore.

Nope. My hair goes crazy when I use heat. When I get my hair flat ironed/curled, I notice a lot of breakage/splits that I don't typically have. :nono:

I love heat, but my hair doesnt. I have to only use heat about once a month, twice if I'm being a naughty girl.

My hair doesn't love heat, if I look at my flat iron the wrong way I get split ends. Now my oldest sis, (not the one in my siggy), her hair is thicker than mine and relaxed, she uses heat about 5 days a week and her hair is super healthy and grows like crazy. I swear her hair just thrives off of heat, lol!

The only heat my hair seems to tolerate is the heat from a heating cap. Anything else and I am asking for trouble.:nono:

My hair LOVES heat!:perplexed I've tried hard to do a no heat regimen but I get brittle broken hair when I do that, maybe I'm doing something wrong.:scratchch When I blowdry on a low setting and flatiron w/my sedu on 260 my hair thrives looking healthy and shiny! What's up w/THAT!?

I can not use heat. My hair hates it. I guess it hates excessive heat. I used to abuse it but my hair would look good so I didn't care. Now I'm wiser and more in tune with how to truly care for my hair. I don't use ANY heat---well--except for my Pibbs but that's it. I put the flatirons, curling irons and blow dryer away. My hair is thanking me for it:yep:.

occasional heat is fine for my hair.. in fact the longer I stretch my relaxers my demarcation line breaks less when my new growth is straightened out(thru curling iron, or rollersetting under dome dryer)

Girrrrllll you and me both! :perplexed

Not at all I don't why I still have my flat irons. I can't get a blowout every two weeks maybe every two months. The only heat I use is from my Conair Ion Shine dryer and my hooded one

I've always thought that a little heat can be helpful. Air dried hair can be rougher and get tangled easier leading to more breakage if you're not careful.

It's so funny that you asked this question. I wanted to ask it for the longest. I think my hair loves heat as long as it's not an everyday thing. Once or twice a week and as long as I wrap my hair up that is when my hair looks the best and strives as far as growing. Option number two that works pretty well for me as well is conditioning wash and putting in a bun.
