I'm had to make some changes to my hair plan for 2025.

I'll talk a bit in another post about my feelings about my trips to Atlanta for my hair. Right now I'll simply say, if you have a serious scalp diagnosis, after you get your emotional response out of the way, be sure to think hard and deeply about the path you choose for your hair. There are plenty of businesses aimed at using your emotional responses to hair loss as a way to waste your time and money.

So, after consulting with my derm, I'm going to try using compounded topical minoxidil and metformin. She's also offering microneedling (at a deeper depth) for three months in a row with laser treatments to enhance growth. I will keep going with home treatment plan as discussed.
Hang in there and be encouraged. Glad that you have someone with whom you can work to help you with your situation and challenges. Keep us posted on your journey!

So sorry you are going through this. Hoping the right solutions come to and you come out strong on the other side

Did my Fenugreek sprout rinse this morning. Let my hair dry in a ponytail and then oiled it up and cinnabunned it.
It's back under a mens satin skull cap and satin scarf. I plan to bun baggy overnight tonight.
Spring is coming and I've got a lot of work to do outside.

Wow! That ponytail is so long and full! Your hair really looks good. Your scalp looks so clean and healthy. And your hair looks super neat and not a hair seemingly out of place. I can tell you keep your hair covered which greatly protects it and keeps the fuzzies at bay. Thanks for posting these two pictures.

TYSM! :love3: They're only a few days old so they're extra neat and scalpy. :lachen:
I can't wait for the new growth to start coming in bc I like the way they look when they get frizzy.

**For some reason, I can't multi-reply anymore :(

I don't use any butters but I use an EVOO+Safflower oil mix to heavy seal a few times a week (a bit more in the winter). I think not twisting/braiding all of the way to the ends (results in knots and SSKs if I do) and keeping my hair extra moisturized and covered most of the time is helping to keep my ends healthy. If I wear my ponytail out that day, then as soon as I'm in for the night, I drench the bottom half of my hair in condish and oil and then do a roll bun or cinnabun and cover it with my satin skull cap.

There's also a product I've been using that leaves my ends feeling sealed and very smooth after I use it. I don't really use it often enough to credit it but I don't believe my hair looked better before I started using it. I use it after I dust/trim (once every 1-2 years) and whenever I feel like my ends are feeling a bit scraggly bc I've let them air dry loose too often. It's a rinse out "water treatment" and I love it! Smells really perfumy but I like that I only have to leave it on 8-12 seconds in the shower. It warms (a chemical reaction) too so I only use it on the bottom half of my hair, not near my scalp.

I have used both the Moremo and the L'oreal version. They are very comparable but the L'oreal one is a fraction of the price.

This constant bunning has to be good for my ends - especially compared to wash n gos. I went to get my hair dyed today. My stylist asked me if I had just detangled in the morning. Nope, but I’ve been in a bun since I last washed on Sunday.

So it’s either the bunning or the fact that I’m using leave in conditioner on my hair now.

I’m looking forward to my next blow out. Either I’ll do one myself in April and do a mini trim or I’ll wait until June and let my stylist do it.

It's probably because your hair is "frozen" throughout the week. Without movement, there's no way for your strands to play with each other and get tangled.

How do you sleep in a bun? I'm curious about the position and which way you place your head. I've been bunning more after reading your posts, but I find that I'm playing with the bun at night to make sure that it's not too tight or that I can sleep comfortably if I'm laying on my back.

I sleep on my stomach with my head turned to the side. I put my hair in a high bun on top of my head and hold it in place with a satin scrunchie. Then I wear a satin lined loc soc on my head.

This is an interesting product. It looks like it a bonding product. Interestingly, it states there is NO water in this Wonder Water and that the product is activated by the water in your hair when you use it. I had never seen or heard of this product until your post to me.

I would love to try this but I will not because my hair doesn't like bonding products and they tend to break my hair. No experimenting or exploring products for me right now. I can't even use shampoo. Thus, all the questions for you as I live vicariously through you and your products that I WISH I could try, but won't.

The product has great reviews.

Have you been using this product long?

Thank you in advance.

Your ends look really good.

Hey you guys!
I’m just coasting. I wash my hair roughly 2-3x per week because I like to and I have the time now that I’m retired (for now). My hair is responding well to my simpler regimen, which I will post below. I’m still working on my water intake and exercise habits.

Oh, I almost forgot. I did a microtrim on curly hair! I was feeling lazy, but knew my ends needed a trim. I can’t tell you how even my hair is, but my ends feel great. Since my hair is so soft and fine, I think that trimming my hair curly will work for me in the long run. I just stretched my hair with a fine tooth comb in small sections and trimmed. I’m going to do it again in April.

My current regimen:
Detangle
Clarifying and/or moisturizing shampoo
Deep condition
WNG, then puff cuff

I haven’t tried rollersetting my hair yet, I have been sticking to WNG, since it’s easier to manage when I workout. I still have heat damage in the front of my hair, so I only wear my WNG until it dries, then I place my hair in a puff cuff. I will slowly cut the damage off.

I’m thinking of trimming my hair this way except on blown out hair. But I was also thinking this way could work on wet hair, it would be much easier to get the fine tooth comb through my hair while it’s wet. I still have about a month to decide. I’m planning to trim in mid April. And I’m planning to trim just a teeny tiny about.

Also I love puff cuffs. Before I switched to bunning I wore one all the time.

Watched the video of the Ytber who compared the Kinky Curly versus the Camille Rose gel and it was helpful. Since I'm having such a hard time finding the KCCC on the ground, I will try the Camille Rose gel and see if it is a good replacement. I've been using the Mielle gel for over a month. It doesn't have enough hold and doesn't provide a cast on my twist. And I think that cast helps me maintain my twist for longer. I think I will also pick up some Aunt Jackie's because it works well when I just want to wear 2 flat twists.

I reordered the Prose conditioner. I have plenty of shampoo. I will use it for another 90 days. I also purchased the leave-in. I want to see if having it customized gives me a different experience.

I'm on here typing because I'm procrastinating doing my hair  I will give myself until 2:30 and then get started. I'm going to try to keep it quick and have it all done before dinner.

Finished my hair before dinner.

I took down my twist and did a search and destroy.
I then added conditioner and put it into 6 twists and did some stuff around the house.
I rinsed, water rinsed my scale and then detangled with a large tooth comb.
I shampooed once.
I conditioned and worked the conditioner in. I left it on about 5 minutes.
I combed through again with my modified Denman.
Under running water I put my hair into 6 twists... 3 on each side.
Then I added 2 to 3 pumps of leave in for each twist.

I decide to try drying with the RevAir. This takes some time but I think this is a good option when I have time.
I didn't take the twist out initially. I just put each twist in the RevAir and let it dry it as much as possible.
Then I took out each twist and separated into 3 sections and dried each section.
As long as I watch YouTube it isn't too bad.

When I finished, I used Mielle Hair Milk on each section.
I parted my hair for twist, added As I Am gel and then combed through.

Looking forward to the back of my hair growing out so I can pull my twist into a section together in the back instead of having to do pinups on the side.

I will do something different next week.

Hi everyone. I am definitely due for a trim now, and will probably do one at the weekend after I wash my hair. My ends are like velcro now, which mean a small dusting is needed. But my ends are definitely healthier, I have very little breakage happening these days.

I also started using grease this week to see if the extra lubrication helps with the velcro ends. If it doesn't, I am definitely doing a trim. If it does, the trim will happen at the end of April as originally planned

Those twists look like art. They are really pretty!

Do you know how your ends arrived to being velcro? I have found that if I trim them, it helps to get rid of them with a trim. When I was able to determine why I was getting them, I was able to eliminate the velcro ends. I think it is a great decision to try out the grease on the velcro ends. You can practice on the ends you have now. Then, you will be even MORE ready with your process. Freshly trimmed ends are like gold. They are not easy to come by and they need to be protected. I love grease and vaseline on my ends. Let us know how the experiment turns out for you.

I washed my hair last night. I see I am slacking off in February and March and not covering my head and not oil-ing my scalp like I did before. I used the @snoop clay mix. I did a pre-poo first.

It HURT to detangle because I combed it out. I have not combed it out since December, which as three (3) months ago. I usually finger detail which works great for me. I detangled because I could see twisted hair within my sections and I didn't want to exacerbate the tangles. I got a fairly large ball of shedded hair. But again, I've not detangled since December 2024.

I loved the way the clay mix leaves my hair feeling from root to tips/ends. I used a cheap conditioner and added some essential oils, castor oil, honey and and glycerine. That helped with the comb out.

In 2024 I blew out my hair and trimmed my hair 5xs (January, March, June, September and December) which was every three (3) months starting from January.

This year I want to go for quarterly trims or one trim every month. My trim dates are April, August and December. It is a risk because I am adding 30 days, or pushing back the trim from three months to four months.

I want know if there is an adverse impact until I blow it out and trim it at the end of April 2025.

We are already past the halfway point of March. This year is racing by fast in terms of hair care time. I see a lot of making small tweaks and observing those impacts. That's good stuff.

It's the small things that skyrocket you to success. Don't sweat the small stuff, but don't sleep on the small stuff either!
