Well mizani makes a relaxer for coarse hair and it makes my sisters hair look like silk. You could also try silk elements, alot of ladies here have had success with it and it is easy to find and affordable. You could also look into design essentials.

Ok, Just relaxed with Silk Elements, and guess what my hair is still not straight, am starting to think my hair is resistant to relaxers, i used regular strength and i have 4a/b hair whats wrong with my hair??!!!:wallbash:

Nothing is wrong with your hair. Did you use enough relaxer, how long did you process it, did you smooth throughly? Sometimes these things can affect results.

hey gym

processed for 30mins:perplexed, took me 15mins to put on 15mins smoothing, added a bit of jojoba oil to the relaxer, would it be ok to do a corrective in two weeks?, the front processed but middle and back didn't take, felt like crying when i went to the salon for a set:ohwell:

Do you think its your hair that is resistant or do you think its your application? I was attempting to self relax and couldn't get good results I went to to the salon and she did get it straight. She mentioned that my hair was having a hard time "breaking down" and though it could be because I am hypothyroid or maybe because of some prescriptions that I have to take. After having my 3rd child my hair became very resistant to relaxing, I was almost relieved to know that she confirmed what I had been thinking for the past 4 years. You might want to consider a salon touch up although I certainly can understand if you would not, or maybe something other than Silk Elements.

To my understamding silk elements is pretty mild. if you're looking for a stronger relaxer, mizani makes one of thw strongest formulations on the market, I think their regular would get anyones hair bone straight. Another strong relaxer is dudley's regular. I'm 4a and use design essentials reg for 15mins and my hair is relaxed straight.

As far as application technique maybe you should let either a stylist or someone you trust relax your hair next time and see if you get better results.

I would wait at least 4 weeks before I did a corrective. Just deep condition in the meantime and you'll be fine.

thankyou ladies for your responses, just doing a hard protien then will deep condition and back to the slaon for a roller set, think it may be my application, have found a lady who will apply my relaxer think its the route i'll have to go down from now on.... oh well xxxx

I feel your pain. I wanted to texlax though, but my hair has a very rough texture - I am thinking under processed majorly - I have come to the conclusion- I would just let soemone else do my touch ups- especially as I go 3-4 months stretches.

PS I used ORS normal- and I have come to the conclusion that it doesnt do me either. I have narrowed it down to lye rather than No lye (although I do get some burns with Lye, that was due to my doing my hair in sections and getting some water at the back and then relaxing.

Now I used to be a lover of ORS no lye..but not so much anymore...now the last time I used it you couldn't tell that I even had a relaxer:nono: I am thinking about not self relaxing anymore because I think I overlapped my hair which means that my hair broke off :wallbash:.... I may be switching to a lye from here on out(people

so now I am faced with going to a stylist to get my relaxers from now on..or just cutting my hair off completely or just getting braids for awhile..I am highly discouraged:sad:

Well, just got back from the salon, and boy i will not be going back there, its like the Holy grail trying to find a good stylist....

Anyway did my deep condition, went with my hair in a plastic cap, so all they had to do was rinse and set, so i asked the guy washing my hair to please detangle whilst running water through my hair cos i get some many tangles, he says i can't because he'lll get in trouble??? WTF??? so i let him get on with manhandling my hair whilst wet, not impressed.

On to the rollerset, i asked for it to be set with water the owner says oh no i will use a setting lotion, Mizani one as well as keracare leave in & silken seal so i'm kinda ok with this but girl used a ton so my hair is now really sticky, then when i asked for a saran wrap the girl looked at me funny and said i can't do that!, She finally resisted and did so

my look when i left? big bouffant, not happy at all:nono:

3 stylists and 2 hours for a set, wtf???!!!:wallbash:

overall i'm most unhappy that they didn't seem to listen to me whats the point if you can't ask for what you want?, am now saving up for a Hood Hairdryer

sorry just had to have a little bit of a cry:sad:

ps if anyone know of a good salon in London please let me know xxxx

I did a search in Salon reviews and used London as the key word, I got two names: one was Juliet Q and the other was Hype. If you do the search, you will find a thread that talks about. I am also looking for a good stylist as I am self done at the moment and I can't relax my hair with lye properly by myself. I have some bits straight, the others not. Good thing I am protective styling till December.

Hey Jade

Your hair is so cute, whats your regime?:drunk:

Just washed my hair prepooed with ORS Pak, then deep con with Elasta Qp, used Qp Mango butter and some serum to roller set, still having dry quite brittle hair, kinda wished i never did the relaxer, going to clarify on weds and find a new deep cond......going back to braids i think
