Need suggestions for products to clarify hair. Inexpensive ones if available! Experiencing lots of buildup from Scented BT use, but will decrease use to every other day. My hair is already thin and now it looks like a greasy press and curl!

I just used Mane, Tail and Body shampoo in the interim. It seemed to leave my hair squeaky, so maybe that clarified it. Anyone know? If not, then I need to invest in a clarifying shampoo for future use.

suave clarifying shamp is good and cheap. i've heard of people using baking soda too...

I use Suave Calrifying shampoo. Some people use a ACV (Apple Cider Vinegar) and distilled water mix to clarify.

Re: Clarifying?....and Hair Shedding

Also, I'm having extra shedding. Could this be attributed to BT or nothing abnormal?

Well, I'll try the Suave tomorrow because I just finished roller setting my hair and its still very greasy. Thanks for all of your tips ladies.

BT made me shed more than normal. I had to stop using it because of this because my hair is thin already! A lot of ladies mentioned that they experienced increased shedding for a while upon beginning BT, which stopped after reguular use.

I read in another BT post that many people experienced this when 1st trying BT ub they also said they were definitely seeing growth kinda quick. Some said after a month or so of use the shedding decreased significantly. A reason for the shedding some gave was that your scalp may need to get used to the sulfur in the BT???? Seems plausible. Who knows, I'll see if I can find and post that BT thread for you. I just ordered mine and can't wait to start but of course I will definitely be monitoring the shedding as I'm sure I will experience it as most others have . Even with the shedding though, people still rave about it so... (off to find that post)

I use BT and I didn't experience any extra shedding. Also, you mentioned your hair is greasy, why is it greasy? Are you using too much BT? Remember a little goes a long way, literally.

I was just thinking the same with the bolded. And make sure you are applying it to your scalp only. When I first started BT, I did notice some increased shedding. I've been using it now for about 2 months, and I have very little shedding. After the first couple weeks, it began to taper off, and I was just careful to do DC and protein treatments and keep my ends moisturized.

Like others said, I like the Suave clarifying poo - very cheap and effective.

I have been using the BT daily on my scalp and it has made it greasy. Otherwise, I don't put any type of oil in my hair. Pre-BT, my hair made its own natural oils so it would be a bit greasy 4-5 days after washing. I could never go past a week washing. Now its exacerbated. Maybe its my own hair oils with the BT. I want to continue the BT use to grow my hair and thicken, so I'm going to cut back to every other day. I bought the Suave clarifying poo today, so I'm going to use that. Also, Marie170 suggested I do protein treatment for the shedding. So, I'm going to try use the ORS Mayo after I poo. Any other tips y'all? I'm new to all this so I'm just trying to soak up as much knowledge as I can.:ohwell:

How often should one clarify? Are there some special instructions to follow (different from using a moisturizing shampoo) when clarifying?

I clarify with ACV but I have just discovered how wonderful it is at keeping my hair from knotting up, so I may have to use it for an after rinse and clarify only with baking soda.

I mix a teaspoon of baking soda into my conditioner and let it sit in my hair. I always have squeaky clean hair and scalp. no dryness.
