Lately I find that I have been using my Caruso's every day (at least every other day) to get that freshly done look. I've been telling myself that since I'm using steam rather than direct heat, it's okay. Am I kidding myself?

I think using them everyday is fine. Not only is it moist heat, but the rollers really don't get hot enough to do any damage, IMO.

If I wasn't so lazy, I would probably use them more often.

Alot of ladies seem to agree that the rollers wont do any harm, but I just recently bought some of these rollers over the weekend and set my hair. They came out sooo pretty, but my hair did seem kinda dry and I had more breakage then usual the following day. So........ I guess, listen to what ur hair is telling you.

Ooh, that's a good question. Is steam better?

Thanks! I've begun using end papers so as not to snag my ends on the foam. So far, it's been good. I moisturize my ends before rolling and my curls seem healthy and bouncy. I just want to make sure I'm not doing any long-term damage.

That said, I read another thread that implied that end papers are bad. What's the deal with that?

You will be fine. When I was neck length, I used Caruso Steam Rollers almost everyday, espcecially during the work week. I have read that some women use end paper. I simply used bees wax, or coconut oil, or shea butter, or even vaseline on the last inch of ends before rolling each section. My hair thrived and I made it to the next level, grew long enough for a bun, and I have been bunning ever since.

Carusos are fine!:)

I remember seeing infomercials for these as a kid. Never bought it, though. You guys are making me want to give it a try!

How long does it take to roll the hair and all that?

I think you will be fine as long as you use some type of end protection before rolling the hair. Since I wear a lot of protective styles, I cant exactly say it wont dry your hair out. But I have been using these rollers since the 90's.

It all depends on how you want to style it. You get big rollers, mids and small. When I had it as a teen, I would to the Mary J style (you know gelled in the front and curls all over) and it took FOREVER. Now, Please! Wash and blowdry, grap hair in sections with the big rollers, iron clothes, shower, and unroll! They are soooooo simple and easy. And I also use it to "refresh" a twistout. You know ends flatten. Love that thing.

I let my friend borrom mine and she has YET to give it back. Just going to get me a new one. With extra rollers.

Girl...get them! I am hooked! I set my hair in the morning before I shower -- it takes about 15 minute to set my whole head but sometimes I just roll the top for "lift" if I've wrapped my hair. By the time I finish my makeup my hair is set and looks like I just had it done.

Exactly, very fresh and long lasgting curls for me. I love my Caruso and I have had mine for many, many years.

Oh, I need to get these then. I am trying to get to "the next level" with as little heat as possible. I think I need to do a search and read up on these steam rollers.

I just bought these today. I couldn't resist it! And even as I was curling my hair I noticed how smooth my ends felt as I wrapped it around the roller. Will be taking them out in a couple of minutes. I'm very excited!!!

Wow! :Copy of 2cool: I just took the steam rollers out and I'm really impressed. It turned out great, just like I curled it and it's very full with lots of body. And my hair feels really soft too.

The only thing I might change is I'll make sure to use the large rollers at the bottom instead of the medium sized rollers but that's it. I finally have a way to wear my hair down everyday. This is the answer ot a problem that I've had for years. Thank God!

That settles it :look:... im gettin em

For the ladies who put vaseline, coconut oil, etc on their ends before using Caruso, it did not make your hair limp after taking the rollers out? I would think it would weigh the hair down?

Yes MissMadaam, as a first time tryer I can attest that the Caruso rollers are the real deal. I'm still looking at my hair and I'm like Woah! The curl fell out a little at the bottom which I am very grateful for. My hair is layered and I usually have to do some serious flat ironing and beveling or hot curling to get this look. I just put a teeny dab of Frizz-Ease secret weapon styling creme on my hand and rubbed it throughout my hair just to help it out. But I'm sure any kind of serum/setting lotion you used in moderation would be fine. I'm shaking my head and my hair is shaking right along with it, it's great!!!

I'm buggin' and I'm in heaven! By the way, Sally's has a sale for 3 dollars off!!!

Wow! :Copy of 2cool:

haaaa haaaaa, that is too funny :lachen::lachen: for some reason that had me dying, think i'm in a silly mood today.

anyway, glad it worked out for you.

from my experience, and the way my hair feels after using them, i'd say it's safe to use everyday.

O.K., so yall know I had to show pics right? I'm just in love right now, excuse my excitement! I actually updated my fotki just now. And I'm sure it will get better from here!

P.S. Dillard, I liked the smiley "rocker" too! I thought he was real cute, :-)

ohhh pretty.... did you blowdry or flatiron your hair before you used the rollers?

Thank you! My hair was rollerset with magnetic rollers under a dryer then roller wrapped with saran wrap. It makes it straight, but it flows and moves right, if you know what I mean. This is my first time, ever, styling my hair like this with no direct heat. I'm just glad to know that it can finally be done!

I think that using them everyday is fine. If I were still relaxed, I would use them a lot. They're a great way to get curls without heat. When I used them, I used endpapers and a bit of serum. Can't go wrong with that.
