I'm back to using a small comb

I have had problems with tangles and knots since I did the BC. I was using a shower comb as my primary comb. About a month ago my mom told me that I needed to use a smaller comb to prevent knotting and matting. She was right! I now go through my hair with a smaller comb in small sections after using the shower comb. I have not had to cut any knots out of my hair since. I think that the shower comb is leaving shead hairs behind and this is what was causing knotting. I'd rather loose 50 strands a day (average) than get 10-12 and have to cut knots out of my hair weekly.

i think if you use a large comb first to get the major tangles and then working thru with a small comb, you should be fine. i used to do this to get a good detangling every now and then. i use a brush now which i think works best.

Yeah the brush (demnan like) works best on my hair too (after finger combing and the wide tooth comb)!

I agree. I am all about the small comb or the brush but instead of using a shower comb I just use my fingers.

If you work in sections and start out with the big combs and work your way to the small combs, this really works. I dont understand how people ONLY use a huge wide tooth comb.

Me either and I was starting to feel bad about ramping down to a smaller comb. That big comb was doing nothing for me!

Do you all use your small tooth comb or brush on dry or wet hair?

Good advice!
I do this too....

I have to use a small comb to get my hair knot free. The large comb just doesn't do it for me.

Thanks :) I'll try this cuz lately my hair has been forming knots at the ends.

I use it on wet hair full of conditionner:)

Oh boy, was this on time for me. I have horrible knots in my hair. After I read about the wet hair/conditioner thing I went to the store and got a small comb. Then applied my conditioner mix to each small section of hair and used the big comb and then the smaller one. I removed enough knots and broken hair to cover my palm 3x.

Then I washed (no tangles, knots or major amount of hair left in the tub), did a protein treatment, and conditioned. I was able to comb thru my hair without any detangler! I used my Maxi Glide the next day and my hair feels amazing.

That's why I like it here. There's so much information, sharing and help. Thanks!
