It seems like a new hair care product or line is popping up every day!

Do you have questions/comments about a product or line that is new-to-you but does not have a dedicated thread (yet) here at LHCF?

My question should be easy since the products are ages old.

I have the KCNT and the KCCC. What natural hair styles do you accomplish when using these products, what amounts do you use and how do you use the products? TIA!
 
KCKT
is an amazing leavin with awesome slip. This stuff is good even diluted to stretch the product.
I use it as a leave in under my wash n go, and it plays well with most of the gels ive tried. It has a light clean smell.
My only beef is the price point. But if you catch a sale or bogo it's totally worth it!

Can't figure out how to use KCCC for the life of me. Leaves my hair a sticky, flaky unpleasant mess even in the smallest amounts.

I use them for wash n' go's. After conditioning, and on really wet hair, I apply KCNT making sure the section is very slippery. How much depends on the size of the section and its texture. I don't need much on my looser curl sections. I then apply just enough KCCC to feel slip; a little goes a long way but you must feel slip for the curls to come out right. Once I've air dried, I almost never see residue. It usually dries clear. This combo really makes my curls pop, tames the frizz, and the hold is fantabulous!!!

Nowadays I don't feel like applying KCCC, so I get a curly puff.

I echo nothidden and discodumpling and others. KCKT and KCCC are great for wash and go's. I never tried a twistout with it, but who knows? I've seen people use products for twistouts that I only ever use for wash and go's.

I loved this demo. I was surprised to see what MahoganyCurls' hair looks like w/o product. It shows viewers that even curlies with looser textures/patterns have to do 'something' to it. And it really highlighted how good these products are.

I don't really use the Knot Today anymore as it tends to build up on my hair and leave a ashy cast.

However, my love is KCCC. I use this on soaking wet hair, diluted for best results (adjusting the PH to make it 4.5/5). To about a tablespoon of gel I add water from my filter, in an 8oz tub. The consistency is like (someone here once said) water ice. My measures aren't strict so I'll add a little more gel if I want a more hold. I'm heavy handed when I shingle it through from root to tip and will use most of what I mix in that one session.

I get soft, flakefree multiple day wash and goes with this. I can't sing it's praises enough.
 
To those who use the SM Hibiscus line soufflé:

What is the consistency of yours? I'm thinking I must have a bad or very old batch, maybe???

Mine is the consistency of hard jello. I cannot poke my finger in it and come up with product on my finger.

Should I return it and get another jar, you think?

I bought the relaxer years ago after it was said that Oprah uses it. Needless to say it didn't do anything for my hair.

Phyto specific is for kinky curly hair.

My stylist uses Phyto the main line and it works pretty good my hair always come out very nice. MY hair is 4c and it a breeze to comb through.

I started to buy a few products to use on my own instead I decided to go with another brand. My problem is that you get so little for such an expensive price.

I asked about that in some thread recently before I grabbed my jar this week. Long ago, I remembered the consistency being much more loose jelly like but I kept finding jars that were like you described - really firm jello.
The jar I recently purchased is a mix of firm to loose jelly texture (more like I remembered). Maybe try another jar? Sorry I couldn't be more helpful :perplexed:

Oh, no, thanks!: You were very helpful, @rileypak. :hug2: It lets me know I'm not the only one and something could be wrong. My hair is not working today. :sad:
 
I went into this warehouse-level beauty supply store to see about a silk scarf and some plastic caps (for DC-ing, as I was getting low).

The place is HUMONGOUS.

I saw products I'd never heard of before. I'll just copy and paste the pics. I'm a little curious about the Rapunzel line. I went to the Rapunzel website and watched a video of the owner speaking about how she developed her line. Interesting. I wonder if these products are any good.

The first jar I had was yucky snot-like. I thought something was wrong with it. The second jar was hard jello like. I'm not sure if it's consistency or by batch, but I figure it depends heavily on the agave and flaxseed along with climate control. Otherwise, I haven't noticed a difference in performance.

My current jar is very loose. I like the texture of it, makes it easy to apply. I'd put off buying it before because all the jars I found were very firm.
But like you say it's likely all about climate and ingredients

I tried the E'tae Carmel Deep Reconstucting Treatment. I try straightening after using it. I follow the directions shampooing and conditionering afterwards (not with their shampoo and conditioner, but with other shampoo and conditioner a good brand). It didn't get my natural 4a hair straight enough. It's a good product for treatments in general. I guess I can use it to treat my hair (even though it didn't serve a purpose to help with my hair being straighten easily :()and I wouldn't pass it up, because I would recommend it as a treatment.

Interesting. I bet I like this product but will never know it. My hard jello one is weird. Hardly applies. My hair looked bad that day. I bet a loose one would be awesome.

I went into the store, shook a jar, and saw movement. Mine at home moves not-tat-tall. Like, not one micro-millimeter. It's hard. Unpokable. I tried to put some in my hand and warm and moisten it. It broke into smaller globs that hardly "melted down" in my palms. I gave up. Smells yummy, though! :laugh:

My current jar has actually loosened up even more since it's been in my home. It was semi solid at first but now it's all loose.
It's been pretty warm in my area so I figure it may solidify more as it cools down later this year. Hopefully not into that firm jello brick otherwise I'll only use this stuff in the spring and summer.
 
Hi!

Does anyone know if I could consider this DC to be protein-infusing (at all)? Thanks in advance. I was advised by someone pretty knowledgeable here at LHCF that it might not be.

NOTE: I read somewhere that protein doesn't have to be high up on the list to have a good effect, but I'm not sure about that.
