The funny part about this is... her telling her "secret" is probably a non-issue. Pretty much anything you can do to improve the quality/growth of your hair doesn't work for everyone, so if she told the whole world that doesn't mean it would actually work for them the way it works for her. That's why I never understood people who keep beauty secrets [when asked]. Everybody is different and just because this thing was a miracle for you doesn't mean it's going to work for someone else so you might as well tell them.

I think your mom probably had a nightly routine for your hair that worked well so retention wasn't an issue for you growing up. Your cousin probably picked up on this when she made that comment. Like another poster was saying, she probably isn't doing much to her hair. I think she's just figured out how to keep her hair from breaking off.
Just to reiterate my mom did the same things to her hair as my hair. We jsut have different types of hair and whatever she's doing like you said is helping her hair from breaking off.

and she ain't trying to tell the family.When we were little her hair never grew. Dont get me wrong, it came to about bra or so but it was very regular degular (I always wanted to use that term lol) but mine always grew to my waist and she was always so jealous. Sometimes, I thought she would cut my hair off in my sleep..yea it was that bad.
Anyway, years later and now she's using something to make her hair GROW and when one of my other cousins asked her what it was she wouldnt' tell her, her petty a** self.
This her hair now PLease dont quote..incase she is on here.lol THis is a vent thread but also, what do ya'll think she uses??? My aunt (her mom) told use she puts something at night (oils) and takes some vitamins. Im telling y'all this is a miracle, her hair was NEVER like this.

but you'd probably be able to smell her from a mile away.It all depends. My hair grows fast naturally but it's oilier and double the growth speed when I am on MSM. It doesn't do much for my joints lol so I'm the complete opposite.

My mom told me that my aunt told my cousin to bottle that stuff up and sell it. Im thinking its a mixture of oils? Can just oils really do that???

My other cousin caller her straight and asked how she did it, my cousin said "hair grows, thats what its supposed to do".

Nope, no difference in my hair. Everyone is different but I saw no difference in hair growth or rate.
I do notice, when I don't take it, that I have pain in my knee.

That's petty AF! I hate when people are so stingy with the good-good. She just getting back at ya'll for all those years growing up when her hair was not doing so well.

i think I'll get back on MSM soon. I'm already taking hair skin nails vits and collagen powder and i think i'm getting a growth rate of more than a half inch a month these days but I have so much damage I can't really retain as much as I'd like.
Damage from what? Do you color or relax?

Major heat damage ( I flat iron all the time), relaxer damage, and I also colored my hair much lighter in 2013 . The damage of that color is done even though I colored over it in about a month
