Thanks Steph. I’m happy that you are considering transitioning, but of course, I'm biased. :D
Yes...I figure if I can make it 5 months and still have the ability to maintain some "straightness"...why not. I didn't want to put ti tout there b/c who knows I may wake up and change my mind! I also feel like the texlax helps with some detangling but its really not a big difference.

 Hello ladies:

:( My hair is kind of dry and today is my DC day, so I'm looking for GREAT Moisturizer Deep conditioner without protein ASAP. What should I buy?

Thanks in advance:)

Bump:D :D :D

Dark and Lovely Ultra Cholesterol was very good at leaving the hair moist and soft but I only used it once, so I don’t know how it performs over time.

Im in! I find that with my hair, a relaxer never really took. It still looked just like my natural hair if I didnt get a flat iron put to it. There was never a happy medium. Either under processed or over processed :nono:

LOVE your hair Ayeshia!

Okay....so what about the annoying knots? I soooo want to wash and wear, but the knots have me bun tied.:) I mean I wear the bun to avoid the knots....What to do to avoid that???

how are you washing/conditioning your hair...
to avoid knots use a conditioner with a good amount of slip
and detangle your hair in the shower with your fingers to loosen
any knots that form

Thanks! Your hair is beautiful. You have a looser curl pattern than I do. I just want to make sure we are talking about the same type of knots. It's a knot that forms with an individual strand. They aren't visibile to on-lookers but you can feel them if you run your fingers over them. And of course you can see them if you are looking for them. These the same knot you are referring to?

oh my bad:lol:
i thought you were talking about knots forming
at the ends of a clump
not individual strands....
don't know what to do about that:ohwell:

Thanks anyway. They are annoying as heck. It's like the hair curls up on itself and makes a knot.

you are gonna get single strand knots if you wear a lot of WNG's or if you wear your hair out often. The only way I have found to REDUCE (not completely get rid of :look: ) the amount of knots is to comb more often and use my denman once a week to get rid of shed hairs left behind from my wide toothed combs. Those shed hairs left behind will eventually tie its self on to other strands of your hair if not removed.

This is what I know.....Dangit!:ohwell: So I bun for the most part. I guess I'll have to accept that I can only do curly every once in awhile:ohwell: . Thanks!

By the way, not that I want anyone to stray from LHCF , but here are a couple of forums specifically for us curlies:

http://www.happycurls.com/v2/smf/index.php

www.naturallycurly.com (they have specific forums for each hair type, including 3b and 3c).

ETA: I just realized...I have been a member with happycurls since January. I think they were still working out some kinks when I joined, so since I'm always over here, I kinda forgot about it. But now, I'm there and I see quite a few there that I know. I appreciate you reminding me of it!

I would like to participate. My issue is that in my natural state, my hair seems to be 3a in the front...3b in the back and 3c in the crown area. This is one reason why it is hard for me to get uniform curls when I am natural. I am now relaxed -11 weeks post and I have a good amount of new growth that is...so pretty and soft that I am thinking of transitioning but...It's hard for me to deal with all of these different textures.

3b checking in.

If I am not cornrowing I am protective styling. I alternate Cathy Howse Method with Cornrows no extensions. I focus on balancing moisture, protein, fats and acids to keep my hair healthy. I do one good trim a year and oil my ends regularly. My challenges are baby fine strands, shrinkage, sticking to a no brush... comb only at shampoo time and being patient. bonjour

That's exzactly the same as me.....3a in front, the rest is 3b and my nape is 3c'ish and very unruly. It has been a challenge getting the nape to blend with the rest because when I do wash n'go's my nape shrinks up more than the rest which gives my hair this weird shape which I hate. It's a drastic difference too because when my nape dries it shrinks up to a little bit past neck length!

I'm the same, but I find that I'm more 3c in the crown, which annoys me because when I wear a wash and go, that area always looks more course than the front, back and sides of my hair. I always have to add more moisture to that area to blend in with the rest of my hair and it too shrinks up like crazy. What is a girl to do???

Checking in here with 3C hair! I think of 3C as being coily, like the spring to a ballpoint pen, when it's unstreched. 3B is coily too, just more the circumference of a piece of chalk.

This board is the nicest group of people I have ever found on a bb! I'm glad I found it!

Hello everyone, 3c/4a checking in! I have a mixture of more loose curls in areas and tighter ones in other areas. Relaxing works for a while then the curls always come back. Henna makes it stay smooth the longest on top nearer my scalp where it will get silky but the ends will still be curly.

Softresses

Hi Type 3 in the house.:) I have 3a and 3b and maybe even a litte 3c in my head, the back is curlier and I do telax (every 4 mnts) to tame the curl. I would like to go all the way natural because I have been that way before but my hair was short so it was easy to manage. It's weird becasue I have cut all my hair off a couple of times and from neck length to shoulder length it is so hard to manage without a relaxer or something but once I get past sl I can usually stop getting touchups. Anyone out there the same??:ohwell:
