I'm forever telling my clients what I use. Maybe I should stop..? LOL! I kid. I'm annoyed for you. There's no reason for her not to tell you. Why? Because technique is just as important (if not more than) as having a quality tool. So, if her technique is on point she shouldn't be worried about sharing this particular "secret". She's being extra in my opinion. Lol. By the way, I love the blow dryer I use. It's the Whisper Light by BioIonic. You can find it on Amazon. It isn't cheap, but it is amazing!
This sounds just like when you ask "could you tell me who did your hair?" Some women will lie and boldly reply "I did". Knowing all along somebody else did. I could never understand why some women refuse to tell other women who did their hair. Crazy

I was searching online for a new dryer last night. What makes a hair dryer amazing? Like what difference should I see in my hair with a high quality one vs my cheapie one?
Should I feel like my hair is dry but not dried out? YKWIM? That would be great! And what products do you like to use on natural type 4 hair before blow drying? Do think think it's best to blow dry damp hair or wet hair?
Sorry for all the questions but Im really in the market. Thank you!
Ooops! Didn't mean to quote this without my reply. lol.
A great dryer should dry your hair as quickly as possible. Faster drying means less exposure to direct heat if that makes any sense. Like, you don't want a dryer that takes 30 min to dry one section of hair. LOL. To be honest, there are some pretty decent cheapie ones out there. The problem with some cheapies is longevity. They aren't typically built to last. And not all higher priced dryers are high quality! I just really really like the BioIonic one because I have been able to put it to the test over the course of nearly 2 years.
As far as products for blow drying type 4 hair: I think it's best to use products that are light. To be honest, if your hair is properly moisturized on a regular basis then when it comes time to blow out your hair you won't need a ton of product. A light serum (like the one by Chi) is best. I don't like to use spray heat protectors because they tend to be drying and sticky in my opinion.
I believe it is best to blow dry hair when it is damp. Not dripping wet, but still has plenty of extra moisture. If it's too wet it can take too long to dry... which means possible overexposure to heat. If it's not wet enough then too much moisture will be stripped from the hair.
I hope this all makes sense. Haha. I've been chasing around my rambunctious 2 year old all day and I'm soooo tired!!!
