Does anybody else have a problem with glycerin?

My hair responds well to glycerin. I fill a spray bottle with:

3/5 water
1/5 aloe vera gel
1/5 glycerin.

It's my daily moisturizer.

My hair *loves* glycerine!!! It's the only thing that keps my hair moisturised for days rather than just hours. I always make sure there's glycerine in all my hair moisturisers.

ETA: Just wanted to add that when I was relaxed, my hair hated any product that had larger amounts of glycerine in it. It made my hair feel limp, sticky and greasy. I only started enjoying glycerine when I went natural.

This thread has shed so much light on why my hair LOVES ORS and Humecto while it is on my head, but as soon as i rinse or blow dry my hair gets hard as a rock.

This totally sucks! =( I JUST made a mix with glycerine. lol.
My hair was so soft while wet, but as it dried my hair was a MESS , just not soft like it WAS. Time to dump that out!

This stuff is officially the devil in my hair. No matter how low on the ingredient list all i get is a cotton candy puffiness. If it's humid I get soft moisturized cotton candy hair and if the air is dry i get brittle crunchy cotton. I'm noticing the same with castor oil. I guess my hair hates humectants. My hair liked it in the beginning of my natural journey. Weird.

I notice the same thing with glycerin and castor oil. I try not to use castor oil on my length as it makes my hair frizz. I don't mind using the As I Am Curling Jelly in really humid conditions. My hair doesn't feel hard once it dries. It makes my roots puffy but I like that sometimes.

I usually use Kinky Curly Curling Custard for my wash and goes, but I was totally out so decided to see how my hair would respond to a different gel (with protein and glycerin). The humidity at the moment about 66% or less. The results are not great. Not only did my coils frizz a lot, but my hair also feels really dry and cripsy compared to how it normally feels.

Can't wait to wash it again and get back to glycerin-free products on my hair at least.

I have really soft skin and I also notice that body lotions with glycerin high on the list can leave my skin feeling coated and looking dry hrs after I've used them (if I don't use something like grapeseed oil after the cream).

Some products with glycerin make my hair hard and crunchy, even more so than gel. I read that glycerin can be bad for your hair in certain climates so maybe that is why.

I can't recall seeing so many products with glycerin when I first went natural over 10 years ago. It's in just about everything now! I just revisited a bottle of Shea moisture African black soap conditioner as a leave in and moisturizer and getting good results so far. What sucks is they recently reformulated this product and the new conditioner contains...glycerin! So I'm holding on to my current bottle as long as possible. I feel like there's no love for glycerin sensitive people or people who live in areas with low dew points. I mean people can always add their own glycerin to products if it works for them.

@TrulyBlessed The original SheaMoisture African Black Soap Conditioner will still be available online at SheaMoisture's website. It will just be way harder to find on the ground as they used they swapped it with the new formula.

But on topic, my hair is 50/50 with glycerin. It's fine if it's in a rinse out product like a deep conditioner, but I can not use it in a leave in/gel/refresher unless I want a frizzy crunchy floppy fro.

Oh what a relief and thanks for letting me know! I had noticed they still have the original ingredients online but thought maybe they haven't updated them yet since I'm not seeing it in stores. Whew, this made my day.
