I was interested in getting a paddle brush to blow dry with, but I'm scared! I'm an currently on a path to transitioning, and would like to know what do others use to blow dry with!

When I was transitioning, I'd use the typical Denman brush (the one with 9 rows). I've never experienced it ripping out my hair or anyone else's. If I was feeling lazy- the comb attachment. But I soon got into not using any heat at all and just braiding my hair wet/ damp. During my transition, my hair was in a protective style 100% of the time.

I got two different types of the denman. I removed some of the teeth and I still have to be extremely careful. The bristles are just too long for me.

@shortdub78 you've got me inspecting my Denman like I've never used it before lol. I've always loved this brush, even pre relaxer but I haven't used it in so long (I'm a finger-comber/ detangler now). I notice that the bristles do not wear well (or mine is mildly abused).

I was in Sally's and stood in the brush aisle for 20 mins debating about a paddle brush. I got a detangle come instead...

Can anyone recommend a blow dryer that gives good, smooth, quick-drying results on the cool setting? Or is that asking for too much? :drunk:

lol.. I know right? the "cool setting" is never really cool to touch imho.. or do I need to upgrade my tool?

My co-worker and I were talking about the CWK plates i.e. SSS Plates....I'm ordering some soon:look:

@PlainJane maybe try the Kiss Handless blow dryer, it has a cold button. I have it and I've used it on the cold button and it does help to smooth the hair. There are reviews on YouTube as well if you want to check it out.

ETA- I forgot I had already posted in this thread about having this blow dryer lol, sorry for reiterating.

I'd love to know if there are blowdryers that have a really cold setting. I too have the handle-less blowdryer, and it's pretty great, but the cold setting is more like lukewarm that gets a tad warmer the longer it's kept on. Maybe it depends on the temperature of the room you're in?

I just want to see what really cold air would do for my strands.

Thanks, I just read some reviews I'm going to go buy one after work lol

@imaginary the blow dryer i have now has a really cold setting and it works well but it's a cool shot button instead of a switch. does the handless have a switch or cool shot button?

Which blowdryer do you have? I'm looking in to investing in another soon.

On the handle-less it's a switch, which is super convenient. The only thing is that the speed settings are set. So it's cold temperature/high speed low heat/low speed and high heat/high speed.

Yup! Reniece uses that method on natural hair. I started blow drying my hair that way and it made ALLLLLLL the difference in the world to me.

I use this same method and got amazing results. I would blow dry using her method on high/cool setting and then I would finish with 2 passes of the dryer on low/hot with a round brush.

Blow dryer on cool using reniece technique saves time, hair, damage, etc.

@Holla This technique works well. I've been using it lately and it has helped.
@TamaraShaniece, I'll give the shot of heat a try at the very end like you are doing. Thanks for the tip. Does it just smooth the hair out more?
