Senegalese Twists

I really want to get twist but I've read that stylists use gel too hold them in place. Gel is very drying to my hair and has caused damage before so I never use it. Can other products be used?

I have Senegalese twists in my hair now and no gel was used at all. My style is going on 2 months this week.

you don't have to use gel. I used a pomade to twist,but you don't have to use that either. I used it to give it a more polished look to blend my hair into the extension hair. It's not necessary. Just tell them not to use gel.
