In hair purgatory
I've been blogging for a while and I enjoyed my run. I wish to go back to the simple photo sharing on fotki. I don't have to do any fancy photo editing, I can talk about all the products I like without having companies complain about negative reviews:look: and not deal with all of the hassle of having a nice well polished blog. I also like to take pics of my hair and hate spamming threads with my pictures.

The thing is that it seems everyone has moved on from fotki:sad: No one updates any more! I remember we had tried to make our own photo sharing site but that never really took off.

So is anyone interested in having fotki albums any more? Or should fotki albums stay in 2006?
 
I still have my fotki I think of how long my hair would be had that heaux not burned me out. I'm gonna start wiggin it full time.

I still have my fotki but I've had so many setbacks, I hardly update it anymore. I still ask for my free extra storage space every month though.

I forgot all about instagram! I will go update mine now

IG isn't like fotki though. I have to make my pics fit that stupid box and I can't bulk upload without spamming some one. This blows. I will try to use it anyway

I miss fotki!!! There was something about it. I met some awesome folk on there.

It could be a bit more user-friendly, though.

Now, I'm going through my pictures :cry2:. Lots of changes!!!
 
I still update my Fotki with pictures every once in a while. When I first started documenting my hair journey back in 2007 there were so many people on that website. I'm not sure why it died down. As one person mentioned, there's Instagram. I personally wouldn't put my hair pictures along with pictures of my family (too many trolls out there). Plus my family would clown me LOL :grin:

OMG, I just took a look at my fotki. I last updated it in 2005, that was almost 10 years ago!! I look so young, I was still in high school rocking relaxed hair and a serious wrap! When I look at one of the pictures, I start smelling the Elasta QP Mango Butter. Man, I used to use so much of that thing, my hair would go limp!
 
Because of YouTube, blogs, Facebook, Tumblr, Instagram etc....

fotki was at a time when there was really NO other way to share pics on the net because Facebook and Youtube wasn't as big as it is today AND it was in its infancy. Now that there are so many other more popular methods of photo sharing (thanks to advancements in technology and cellphone cameras etc), fotki isn't really needed anymore. That is just my opinion...

But I do miss the sincerity of fotki though....
 
I opened a fotki account after I joined this site. I still have it I just never got around to posting pix or adding friends but I'm down.
 
Not sure if this is why others stopped but I got a nasty computer virus from Fotki years ago. The first time I dared to visit after it was fixed my alerts started going off. Have not been back since.

I liked Fotki because my hair photos was limited to the community I wanted to share with - the online hair community. I have Facebook but my "friends" are my co-workers, business contacts, relatives, and friends I know who don't care about my hair. I have Instagram but I haven't done much with it.

Yeah, they had viruses and the next year the site lost a ton of pictures for a lot of people. It became annoying.
 
My fotki is old, but still up and running!

I keep it because people still ask about my relaxer and air drying albums. :yep:

Totally forgot about this, but yeah that was quite the turn off.
 
I never had a fotki but I will say one of my biggest downfalls of this hair journey has been not taking pictures and recording what I'm doing to my hair. Once I have a solid regimen down I'll probably use fotki or something so I can document and be able to actually SEE if what I'm doing is working.

This! I have FB but my hair album is closed to just me. My friends, coworkers, and family could careless about my hair updates! I haven't played much with my Instagram, but I really liked the way things could be organized in folders on fotki. Can you do that on Instagram or any of the other social media photo sharing sites?
 
This sound like a good idea. I still have my fotki but I haven't uploaded anything in years. I've been trying to post my hair photos on instagram but some of my photos don't fit and some of my hair is cropped out of view.

I'm here for the comments to see what will others do.

You can download instasize or photogrid to get around the issue of pics not fitting in the box.

I miss fotki, too. I still have mine but haven't updated since 2010 or 2011. Still taking pics here and there but not doing anything with them.
