HEY
I need your help. My hair was BSL I cut it to a short cut last summer now it's NL and really damage from the colors and relaxers I want to just do the BBC and start over but is there anyway I can save my hair before doing that action? I use good products and I don't use heat but it just keeps breaking.

With there being color and relaxer, are you making sure to maintain a balance of protein and moisture?

What products are you using? How often are you clarifying, deep conditioning, and moisturizing?

And pictures?

What's ur Reggie? How often do you relax & color? In this particular case, you need to choose between the two. Do you prefer relaxers or coloring your hair? Maybe your hair can't handle both. When I relax and color, I stretch my relaxers for 6mths.

I moisturize 2x a day and I do a protein tx once a month. I use E'TAE products and I Co wash every 4 days.

I don't Color my hair anymore and I haven't since a year ago but the color is growing out. I wash my hair once a week like shampoo, conditioner and DC and I don't use any heat what so ever. My hair was growing fine but one side is breaking and I think it's due to the color left on the ends and the fact that I relaxed my hair but I stretch my relaxers like every 4 months. But i want to quit relaxers all together and color. I really want to BC but I recovered my hair before and it grew healthy and very long but now it's not

When I started my HHJ a few years ago my hair was a mess. Although I never used relaxer, I colored the heck out of my hair. I had various shades of blond and brown hi-lites. I didn't want to BC so I used henna to strengthen my hair and correct some of the damage while I trimmed the colored hair away slowly. Basically, I henna'd my hair weekly for about 6 weeks. This coated and darkened my hair to a uniform color. Then I maintained with monthly treatments. This along with dc'ing and moisturizing regularly saved my hair. Now, 6 years later my hair is healthy and all of the colored, damaged hair has been trimmed off. I still henna about once every 4 months or when I remember.

hey I am looking for a hair buddy... we could encourage each other... with all the technology out there; facebook, istagram, whatapps etc we could communicate easily and just keep each other on track... my hair is currently shoulder length and I am aiming for Bra Strap length by the end of this year.. I wanted to start a 6 month bootcamp to not only achieve healthy hair but try to lose some weight as well... is there anyone who is really, and I mean really serious about overall health in hair and body? Looking forward to hearing from you soon.

How's your protein/moisture balance? Since I color my hair, I've been using more mild proteins.

Congrats on your hair journey. Can you cut the color off? Its breaking off anyway and your ends are the most delicate part of your hair. If its more than 1-2 inches, you can trim it off gradually. I think you need more protein in your reggie (please make sure they are hydrolyzed so they penetrate the strand more thoroughly). I like hardcore proteins like komaza protein strengthener. A reconstructor is a nice mix of both moisture & protein.

Ummnuh05 Patience is key -- your hair can and will come back from anything. Just plan on having great hair by this time next year and, by, e.g., the end of the summer, you will be amazed at how far you've come. This is also the time to focus on your new growth -- drinking enough water, taking your vitamins, finding the right oil/scalp mix etc.

Big chopping creates layers which makes it harder for your hair to grow out because each strand is more exposed so please think long and hard before you do THAT.

Hey, if you are here on LHCF, you know the HHJ rules: low manipulation, careful wet combing only, minimal (or no) heat, lot of conditioning, protective/kind (hands-off) styling that you can live with.

If your hair is that much of a mess, I would go easy on the protein if you don't know what you're doing and let a pro do it one or two times and watch -- a bad protein application can create tumbleweed.

I'm not sure about what role color played but I will say that I have never been able to resurrect color damage -- just had to wait for it to grow out or cut it off. Most people get color damage from either too much heat (color weakens hair) or by relaxing colored hair (you can only color relaxed hair, in that order).

Finally, hair is spiritual. Somehow, life took over and your hair (you) became less of a priority compared to whatever is going on. (We've all done it.) This is the universe's way of telling you to slow down, put yourself first.

Good luck -- it ain't an emergency, just a life-lesson and opportunity for "growth" - pun intended.

The big question is, what time of relaxer did you use? I see this all time. You have to really know what you're doing to have color and be relaxed. Did you use a mild color safe relaxer?

All the moisturizing, protein, and whatever else won't work if you're using too many harsh chemicals.
