I went from 1b to a 4 in about 6 weeks. I used honey, cinnamon and tinsy bit of lemon juice weekly. I would use a clarifying shampoo to make sure I'd get all residue off the hair.
Then i'd let the above paste sit on my head for about an hour or two. If I could sit in the sun it seem to speed up the processing of the color.

Really? Could you post the amounts and length of time left on the hair? :drunk:

I used about a 3/4 cup of honey, 4 tablespoons of cinnamon and 1/2 tablespoon of lemon. And a few times I added olive oil but i don't think that matters too much.

What a cowinkydink. I happen to be doing a cinnamon DC right now. I'm hoping I'll do this tonight and then henna tomorrow. I'm trying to get a deeper red. But as far as the lighting goes I'll be back with those results Tomorrow!

my sister did this. she poured lemon juice on her head, sat out in the hot sun on the lawn. put on her sunscreen, shades and sat outside for a couple hours. she went from a dark brown to light brown. it worked!

she tried it without going out in the sun, and we only saw the difference when she was in daylight.

the more you stay out int he sun, the more your hair will lighten. this happens to my hair often without even trying.

I had been using non microwaved honey in my hair and it was getting lighter. Not by much and it may have just been stripping the black dye off because I dyed my hair lighter then colored over it with black.

Bt I used honey and cinnamon before when I was relaxed and it did get lighter.

Not realy lighten a lot, but if you want red hair try koolaid. The red flavors seem to work the best, but just a little warning: THE COLOR WILL STAY IN FOR A VERY LONG TIME, I'm talking months at a time. If you don't mind I guess It's okay though.

I used this recipe about 2 weeks ago and left it on for about 2 hours. I like the results. My hair was lighter and it helped to lighten my new growth which was super dark. But since, I typically use only honey and condish and didn't really notice I difference in my usual results, I'll stick with that. I was thinking the additional cinnamon and lemon would kick it up a notch.

Good thread. My sister just sits in the sun when she wants lighter hair. She's a natural strawberry brown, but when she sits in the sun she goes dark blond with lighter streaks.

Do you have to sit in the sun with the mixture in your hair?

+1 for just sitting in the sun

I'm naturally a medium brown but it slowly turns light brown in da sun. More noticeably at the tips. It used to become blondish when I was relaxed.

I've done it with plain honey slightly diluted with olive oil, but my hair lightens pretty easily about a shade or two in certain spots if I'm not careful. I used lemon juice and sun once back in the 90s and it worked. My mistake was I didn't rise it out until wash day so it was a bit drying.

I did it using lemon juice and honey a few years ago. I was on vaca and ended up with nice subtle highlights
