Hairlista?? Anybody?

It seemed like a much younger crowd when I was over there (not that that's a bad thing).

I think the forums target different crowds. Hairlista's discussion is more centered around off the shelf products whereas LHCF's discussion tend to focus more on handmades.

I'm a member there, but I haven't been on in a while. Like Nix08 said, it's for a younger crowd (not that there's anything wrong with that).

Hairliscious used to be a member here before starting that site. She's the reason I apply my dc's the way I do.

I'm a member there. There's good information but the only thing I didn't like was you have to be "accepted" to join a challenge. Me didn't like that. So I came back over here.

sunnieb how do you apply your dcs? Does she use the relaxer method? It's been so long since I've looked at her blog... like 2008!

Thanks for the replies, but im a newbie on here ( i just subscribed today ) and i find this site a little confusing.. does anyone agree?

I love the look of Hairlista. LHCF looks so basic to me. I've seen my IT friend write better programs than this over the weekend  I'm vain though so I really didn't even answer your question :look:

^^^Yes, LHCF looks really old. Hairlista is cute but it is a younger crowd. LHCF has much better information.

it took me a while to get the hang of this site. I'm on a mom forum and Hairlista is set up just like the other mom forum I'm on, so that was easier for me.

I'm a member and I really don't like it.

I feel like it's for newbie who no very little, also there isn't many naturals on there (in comparison to here).

I don't even like how the threads are presented. Although, LHCF could definitely do with an update.

Maybe it's bc I'm somewhat of an older head and I know these sites all popped up after lhcf bc of lhcf lol. It's like their little lhcfS and I'm just like why not stick with the originator when I know this site has the most info accumulated over a long period of time with members who have been here for ages....some for over a decade. When you still see members posting who joined in 2003, have long since meet their hair goals and are giving advice, I think that says alot about the site.

I started my healthy hair journey with Hairlista. I learned a lot of the basic information I needed to make my hair healthy. I later ventured off to this site, because it got to a point where I felt like I learned everything I needed to know from Hairlista. I visited it a couple of months ago and I noticed she bombarded the site with advertisements. I think it's distracting and I prefer the LHCF layout better.

I use to be really active on Harlista a few years back and enjoyed it there a lot. However, Hairlista isn't nearly as active as it use to be, and though I like the organization of the threads I hated how the Let's Talk section of the forum started turning into another hair forum. Just think if the Off Topic forum started getting 99% hair questions on it. So it's not moderated very well. I do feel like LHCF has way more information on it because has been around longer, and when I was an active member of Hairlista I longed for the day I could join this site. For some reason I've always looked at hairlista as kind of more liberal, maybe because of the board I was on prior to it was more conservative. Anyway I love LHCF!!

I am a member of both sites. However, I do gravitate towards LHCF more because of the format and various age groups. Hairlista is more for the under-30 crowd and that's fine. Plus, it tends to focus on more in-store items; whereas, LHCF shifts toward hair care businesses and other techniques.

They (Admin Team) upgraded a few years back and it wasn't welcomed. People didn't like it so it was switch back to this format.

Lol yes thats what i thought .. they should really upgrade LHCF ..

And to answer your question, heard of it but never subscribed. Only stick to here which has a wealth of information and British Curlies for UK reviews.

So is it worth the time of signing up if im already with LHCF . ??

If you're happy with LHCF, then no. But you like being a member on different hair boards, then go ahead. I've tried out many different hair boards in the past. Other than different members, I don't think there's anything on Hairlista that LHCF can't provide.

My opinion

Hairlista<K.I.S.S<LHCF

LHCF, just been doing this thing longer than most, and it shows.
Personally I like this layout, efficient and not cluttered.

But does LHCF have more 'older' women ? Because im 15 and havent found any teens yet :I.

I wouldn't say older, I would say more mature and people who are more familiar with hair how to care for hair, not just reading and using. Any advice you get here, someone has been through it and what they tell you is likely tried, true and tested. There are support threads for particular people to help you.

There is this one girl on Hairlista named something George with a nicki minaj photo. She gives the worse advice. Why? Every piece of advice she gives is followed by a link to read. How does that help? I need someone to tell me what they did because it happened to them.

There may not be teens here, but you will get some tips that will keep you from setbacks. There are some college girls here though.

I agree. I was 17 when I found LHCF 9 years ago. I've been relaxed, texlaxed, natural and back to tex laxed. There weren't many teens either but that never phased me. I think the advice outweighs the age group.
