Ugh why is my hair so splity? I just cut like 4 inches off the front 3 or for weeks ago and their back. I keep it twisted and moisturized. i really dont wanna keep cutting it.

What kind of tools are you using? How frequently are you using them? How long is your hair? Does it rub on your clothing?
Also, do you sleep with a hair covering, such as, a bonnet or silk scarf?

ETA: Do you use direct heat? If so, how frequently and do you use a heat protectant?

naa my hair is thick. I only used heat like twice since I re-BC'd - in july and trimmed, and in Oct (default pic) and cut 3 inches off the the front right after because it had more splits than the rest of my hair and wore wigs. then last month noticed it was split alot again so I cut 4 inches off that part and only been wearing twists and not its still split alot. that part comes to like my nose when i streach it. I wear a bonnet to bead moisturize and seal

How often do you use strong protein (keratin, collagen etc)?
Also, what do you use to detangle?

Are you sure the strands are thick?
I have some fine strands but over all I have a lot of hair! I used to think the strands were thick but they're not all thick.

My hair used to be like this when I first went natural, I find it has stopped significantly since incorporating regular light protein into the mix. I used to have holes in my strands, or incomplete splits that would become splits when I trimmed- very frustrating. I currently use Aphogee 2 Minute Reconstructor with my moisturizing DC together once weekly.

HTH!

Now that you think about it it is a little more fine than the rest of my hair. Its just very aggravating I been getting splits my whole HJ. I dont know what to do its the splits and knots mostly in that section. I use the hardcore apoghee ever 6 - 8 weeks and was using Nexxus Kerapix followed by hydrasleek. Now I been using Megatek (since it so short) followed by silicone mix mixed with garlic conditioner. Its very depressing. I dont know what to do like should I continue to grow it out to be like the rest of my hairr but I heard if its splitty it breaks before grows so it appears that its not growing. Or should I get it professionally cut. But its the same old process its like a platue.

This. I've pretty much had mid-shaft splits my whole life. Whenever I would trim split ends I would end you with more because of it. I'm pretty sure that I read a blog post where the person just accepted that that was the nature of their hair and so I stopped worrying about mine too. In the mean time the I learned a lot about taking care if my natural hair (which was huge for new considering I've been natural most of my life) and started using better products, including silk peptides (light protein ) in my daily hair moisturizer. I'm not sure what worked exactly, but I've not noticed the shaft splits or the split ends which used to be obvious, but I also don't go looking for them. I dusted regularly the first year but found that the condition of my hair had improved so I stopped. I had my first trim in December but that was to even up my hair. I only used heat one time and that was to straighten for the trim.

snoop,

This is another thing that i think is key for me- regular dustings. My hair has gotten better since I have added protein into the mix on a regular basis, but dusting roughly every 2 months has done my hair wonders. I think this may be something for you to go back to. What you did to get it, you gotta do to keep it :yep:.

I wonder if your issue may be diet. The maximum strength and health of your hair in its best condition is when it comes from a body that is nourished. If your diet/water intake is poor, your body will make weak hair. It may not be a big deal for your other sections because they are more coarse. Do you think this might be applicable?

Just checked a strand from my crown hand my hair is so strong and healthy. No splits, not even the end. I think I have to trim about another half inch because that was very thin but otherwise this is the best it's been. I was also good with my diet last year too. If I keep all those things up I can avoid the scissors. :)
