I did a major cut earlier this year in January. Even though it wasn't by choice :(, I 'm very happy I chopped it all off because my ends were so badly damaged and it also made me want to start taking better care of my hair since I wanted it to grow back. That's how I ended up finding this website, even though it was like 6 moths later :p . Now my hair is growing a lot faster and healthier than it did before, it was the best thing I ever did for my hair.

About 2 weeks ago i got 1.5-2inches cut off...it was worth it....im sure my hair will grow back to the length it was in no time. i may not reach BSL this year, but atleast my ends are healthy.

Here's a pic of my hair before I started gradually chopping it off (this was in April 06. it was at brastrap at that time)

WHY, WHY, WHY??????????? After seeing this and that dang Fantasia movie, I soooooooooooooooo want to cut my hair and be done with it. Lord, help me. Ya look good!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, cut about 8" off in May and I do not regret it. Damaged by a stylist and it is growing in very healthy without split and damaged ends.

I cut about 6 inches in February of 2003, I remember I could not put my hair in a ponytail, it was right at the nape of my neck. I loved it though, it was super thick and healthy lookin. I had to do it, I had breakage from bleaching my hair(hi-lites), and it was a good decision for me.

Your cut is absolutely beautiful. It really looks great on you! It reminds me of Jacquie Reid from BET.

I just got my hair cut. I had 1 inches trimmed all round. It takes some getting used to but I also feel relieved, my ends were looking so jacked up!

I did the cut in April-06 and joined this site about the same time. The picture in my signature is about a day or two after I cut off about 2-3 inches of severely damaged ends.

I'm so glad I did. I took some advice from this board and started a new hair regimen. And its paying off.

I've done a lot of those over the years. In 1997 I cut my hair from brastrap to the Halle Berry cut. Then in 2000 I cut it tfrom mid back to just below shoulder because of a bad dye job (Loreal Feria). In 2003, I cut if from waistlength to about armpit length because I just felt like it. Since then, every June I cut anywhere between 3 to 8 inches off. It's like my hair is on a schedule or something. I've had two major cuts already this year and I'm about to get rid of about 8 inches due to excessive shedding.

Yes, I do so about once a year. I cut my hair (2.5 inches) Sept. 05 to even up the ends and get rid of some thinness. I cut it April 06 (3 inches) to do the same thing. My hair has grown those 3 inches back by now and maybe a little more.
