And me being the true LHCF'er I examined the hair (she White by the way) and can I tell you her hair is strong I couldn't even break the hair. Her hair just just snapped back into place no matter how hard I tried. I could even hear it boucing back.

The bub was on the hair so this was a true shedding. I also a ran my finger down the hair and it was very smooth, barely any lumps or bumps. I'm sure this is weird on so many levels but I just could not resist! She clean and I know her very well so I didn't hesitate to examine the hair.

Is it possible for "us" to get hair as strong as this?

First of all this thread title is funny *lol*. 2nd of all, what do you mean you couldn't break it? Literally it was impossible to break or just a little more difficult than normal? I am intrigued...

I'm sorry I don't have an answer to your question but you know your an LHCF member when you start analyzing other people's shedded hair at work.:lachen: :lachen:

Wow, that is really fascinating! I would love to know if its possible for our strands to be that strong. An individual strand of my hair will snap very easily, if it is pulled too roughly. I would love if my hair could be that durable.

lollll! Image how I feel! If I ever doubt that I was a true LHCF'er I doubt no more after that.

And yes! I couldn't break the hair! Its that strong.

KiniKake uses henna and she just said her's would break. Would years of henna make our hair this strong?

most of my hairs would break under pressure. I do have some hairs (which I do believe are courtesy of MSM) that are thick, smooth and stretch a heck of a long way before snapping back in place....quite a lot of these strands are as long as the rest of my hair. They will break but it takes some serious doing on my part (did that with a shed hair as a test ...hey I had to you know??? ) and they're very shiny.. from what? don't know....

Would be nice if the rest of my hairs would be that way!

I don't think that MSM would do the rest of my hair that way even if I was on a megadose, but, I think that it definitely has some effect in my case.

You have ISSUES! LOL. I think it's genetic, and there's no product we could use to get hair that strong, although I am interested in learning about her routine.

OK, get this she uses a supermarket brand dandruff shampoo. We are in the south and I don't know if you lady have a Publix's near by but that is what she uses.

And...she does not use condish! She White so she can get away with this so don't even dare!!!!!

This is me running to Publix's --> :bouncegre

I've said this before in other threads. Their hair is so much stronger than ours. I know a lot of us don't want to admit it but they definitely have an advantage when it comes to strength, thus retaining length.
I grew up around Indians and other races and You can't snap a strand of their hair with your bare hands if you tried. Their hair is literally like a strand of wire. You won't find broken off pieces of hair in their comb either, just long strands of shed hair.

get out of my head! i'll be the first to admit their hair is way stronger. i think we have the weakest hair and then we process and heat it making it even more vunerable.

Tell me about it! My friend from secondary school was chinese, and lord, her hair was thick!!!!

Yeah, I know they have much stronger hair than ours. I was really amazed at my examination of the hair. And it made for a really good laugh!

But as the Word says, "...all things are possible.."

asains have the strongest most resistant hair ever.....my friend Eri's hair cant even hold a curl..thats how dense and pin straight it is. it would take a lot to damage her hair.

OMG i died reading the thread title and that post made me laugh so hard i had tears!!!:lachen: But yeah, I know what you mean about the hair stengh. I do that to my own hair with the hairs that get caught in the comb.

I know a few of us henna heads have had similar experiences. I was shocked when I pulled on a strand and it wouldn't break. It took a whole lot of tugging before it finally broke and when it did it made a loud popping sound.

This is so true. There was some relaxer, I think maybe Phyto, that was trying to market to Asians to make their hair more "susceptible to styling, such as roller sets."

Their hair is stronger than ours, the structure is different. Their hair has a thin layer of cuticle, with some cortex and a hollow medulla in the middle. This makes their hair like a support beam of a building or a bridge. Our hair (not all of us, but you know what I mean) is a thick layer of cuticle with a little cortex in the middle.
