Yup I used to not like it too much, my hair was so flat so i started texlaxing a few years ago and that has helped.

Yes! Hated it, when I was relaxed I used to hate a fresh relaxer so much that I used to go home from the Salon and wash my hair to get some body, volume, life back into my hair.

I used to love the look of a fresh relxer but not the feel. I have REALLY thick hair so I still had body in my hair.

do hair stylist do this? and also does it last as long as a relaxer?

Yes, they do but you have to tell them. The last time I went to a professional, I told her I only wanted her to smooth once and she did. Relaxing is relaxing, it never comes out, it's just about texture. Reclaims ing leaves you with texture so you can actually look like you never got a relaxer.

Nope, you're not the only one.

However, I LOVE a fresh relaxer! The look, the feel, yummy! My fresh relaxed hair is not flat since I've been doing the process myself.

I only relax 3 times a year, so I always look forward to relaxing and seeing the lengths of my labor. :yep:

I hate it. As soon as I leave the salon, I throw my hair into a ponytail, and wear it that way for the whole week until I wash it.

I love it and I hate it
I hate how flat it is but I LOVE being able to feel my scalp again
I agree weeks 2-4 post relaxer are the best

@Lucie when are you going to post your regimen... :lick: :D Please?

tapioca_pudding, I don't really have a regimen. I roller set about once or twice a week. I used to wrap my hair after but now I just brush out the curls, apply a quarter size of argan oil. I put my hair in a high bun or single braid when I go to sleep. I use Mizani and Nexxus products. I do a protein treatment when I feel like I should or remember to. I wish I had more I could tell you. I think keeping it simple works for me. :yep: And laziness....... :look:

No, i hate it too. I like freshly relaxed edges, but I prefer the look and feel of my hair at about 1 month post. It's full volume and thickness begins to return then. ETA: Like sunnieb said, my hair is not overprocessed anymore after years of overprocessing, because I purposely underprocess a bit (only using a mild relaxer no matter what) and my hair has grown longer than it's ever been because of it. And i like to see my new length too. :lick: I have done my own relaxers the last 10 yrs or so, except for the times i transitioned, of course.

I TU 3 or 4 times a yr depending on growth rate, and whether or not I skip a TU or 2 and go into braids or twists, or hibernate under a wig, which I may do for the remainder of winter to get some serious growth in.

The fresh relaxer feeling and flat look was the reason I started texlaxing. I used to relax my hair every 6 weeks and I only liked it from week 2-5. Now that I texlax I pretty much like it all the time.

I don't like it when it's too straight, like right now I feel like my hair is too straight. I dare not flat iron it. I like it when its 2 or 3 weeks old.

I hate it too but I always rollerset so now I never get a super flat look. I have a big head and a big forehead so volume and curls look better on me.
When I flat iron straight (which is rarely), I call it my "professor Snape" look.

i really don't understand texlax or its process but i will look into this
as long as it straightens enough so that i wont break my hair and also it straigtens good enough so i wont be doing this every other month

do hair stylist do this?

summerof1990 so sorry it took long to respond to u! I transitioned my hair from bone straight to texlaxed in 2010 and now all of my hair is wavy.. I have to treat it like natural hair more than relaxed hair because it still has texture. I am sure stylists can texlax but I haven't been to one since 07 lol..

i cant deal with my natural hair so i think i will stay relaxed.
and on the stylist part
i see a lot of girls gave up stylist and still have beautiful hair
but i refuse to relax myself for now after i damaged my hair and never get it straight.

How did you damage it?

I'm with you ladies. I hate the flat no volume look of a fresh relaxer. That's why I decided to texlax when I went from natural to relaxed. I love texlaxing so much better.

On short hair i dont mind it but on longer lengths I hate it. I used to go in and wash my hair afterwards(I dont think it made much difference anyway) And plus with having fine hair it doesnt make much difference.

I hate that fresh relaxer look too. However, I can better handle my hair when it is straight. I have thick hair but after a relaxer it appears thin for the first 3 - 4 weeks. Immediately after a relaxer I use a shampoo that adds volume such as Shea Moisture's Yucca & Baobab Thickening line. It takes that "just relaxed" look away and makes my hair look thick, healthy, and vibrant instead of thin, limp, and sickly.

I didn't like it when they wrapped my hair. I preferred the big curls that the rollers gave me after a few passes of a brush.
