I like how managable my hair is after a relaxer
However I suffer from big forehead..which makes me look real bad after a fresh relaxer.

I avoid anything and everybody at least for 3 days until my hair gets some time of volume!

Another reason why I texlax. I don't really have to wait for the volume to return.

I don't relax bone straight and I don't have that issue, but what it you roller set with smaller rollers for more curl & body.

You can:

-Texlax

-Cowash and airdry then put in some braids or bantu knots (lot's of 'em)

-Wear a bun with a curly side bang

I'm only 4 days post I LOVE it!!!!

hmmmm. thanks.
I keep hearing texlax texlax.. Does it require straightening and heat after a wash? Is it more frequent?

It's sad that I've been on a hair journey and don't know what this is.
Is it a creamy chemical like a relaxer but less harsh?. And will black beauty salons do this because I hate to stop going to my beautician because she got my hair back healthy. And by going to her I figured I like to be pampered!

I hate dealing with my unmangable hair lol
And i like a straight look

Thanks doll I will look into the texlaxing.
I am praying that a stylist can help me with this and this isn't considered a speciality

summerof1990 texlax is when you don't let your relaxer process for the entire time. Maybe cut the processing time in half or less. That way you are left with some texture.

There's a texlax thread around here somewhere......

so how long does it usually take for most people to texlax
because my beautician is pretty quick and i don't want to rush her...

You relax but you don't process the hair as long. For me I just apply relaxer and rinse. I never smooth my hair, just the edges. Since I roller set, that's the only heat I use. It leaves a bit more texture so depending on your texture, you may need more heat, but I have thick strands and don't use more heat. When I flat iron, I can tolerate a higher heat than a bonelaxed head.

When I went to the salon, I told her to only smooth once and she respected that, but they can't be clucking it up in the salon either because the relaxer will still process the hair. It should be done quick. Just let her know you don't want it straight and you want to keep texture. Only thing is that it takes a while to grow the texlaxed hair out, so the hair will look puffy for about a year until enough grows in to blend in.

u lost me at the end because my goal is to keep it managable not have the bone straight look because I NEEEEED volume. I wasn't trying to grow out my natural texture

No, you would have a small amount of texture because the hair is never straight. I guess it depends on smoothing. I don't smooth so I had a little puff. When I smoothed once, I didn't really have a puff. You won't be natural, just have a small amount of texture depending on how much you leave behind. The degree can vary.

You dont even have to texlax.... Just reduce the processing time slightly to give you a lil more texture.

You could also try doing a protein mid-step. I used to have that limp look after I just relaxed. Last touch-up I did a protein treatment before neutralizing. My hair came out very fluffy afterwards. In fact, I think this has helped to improve the health of my hair as I notice that I have less tangles now.
