V05 causes Cancer

Hello ladies!! I just wanted to share this with you all ladies that have used this product and is currently using this V05 shampoos and conditioners. http://m.cancer.org/aboutus/howwehelpyou/shampoo

If you read the bottom section, it states that the information is not true.

Yeah I noticed that but then I researched other articles about SLS and they supported the cancer specified ingredients in V05. Maybe I should have used those articles.

However I have found some articles pertaining to the SLS causing cancer being a 'hoax' to divert people to natural products, but I guess that isn't such a BAD thing (natural products).

I found it particular odd that there are shelves with pictures at a store like the one attached. My sister sent me one bc she knows I use em a lot.

Unless you wash in just spring water EVERY MANUFACTURED PRODUCT ON THE MARKET contains carcinogens. Period. Even food products.

V05 is still my baby!!

I remember a few V05 products being on a cancer list for containing Cocamide DEA not SLS or SLES.

Not trying to be belligerent OP. It's just one of the few products off the shelf that doesn't cause my hair massive breakage. I get your point and it is important.

Lol no it's ok. I'm not offended or anything!! It was just a heads up to everyone whether it may be a hoax or not. I still have my Vo5 clarifying shampoo however waiting for on wash day anyways

No problem. I was just giving a heads-up to people since there are A LOT of companies putting completely toxic chemicals in the foods we eat, and the make ups and hair products we use.

My boyfriend is from Ghana and they use nothing but natural resources for stuff. I have been sticking to more natural stuff such as the pure Shea and coco butter his mother sends me daily with Ayurvedic products too. Hoooowever, I still have my Vo5 stuff too. They say not all the Vo5 products contain the carinogens though.

Dont feel silly! Do a search for cocamide, think there's one from last month on it and other shifty ingredients have their own threads too. There are also warning threads for other specific products as well, just as you did here.

This was nothing unusual or silly in the LHCF world!

I have seen the same signage posted at my local dollar store, but it was posted in front of the hand sanitizers, liquid soaps and body products. The signage did not single out a specific brand, just a general warning for the product type.

I don't even use V05 and it made me nervous.

We're always talking about commercial products but am I the only one to wonder about handmades/natural products. I use handmades almost 100% of the way and love them but do we really know that we're getting full disclosure? Everything is cancer causing - healthy & beauty prods, sun, air, food, cleaning products, etc. I use to try to avoid this or that the more I read, the more defeated I become because potential carcinogens are everywhere.

Please note that Each state has it's own labeling laws and regulations and California is very strict. I tend to use them as my barometer.

California does a better job than the FDA of warning consumers and educating them so they can proceed at their own risk.
