What conditioners do you use then? Nothing moisturizes my hair like Keracare Humecto. Do you all have any alternatives? Kenra MC just did not do the trick. :ohwell:

No, I gave up on avoiding mineral oil. A lot of my products have it-my hair hasn't suffered negatively. The majority of the products I use for mainstream shampooing and conditioning are Nexxus, which doesn't usually have any mineral oil.

^ I used to think so too, but humectress has a good amount of mineral oil. Maybe other conditioners too... check again!

i avoid products that dont work. I use some that contain mineral oil and some that dont. My favorite headdress had mineral oil, petroleum and beeswax but my hair look AMAZING when I use it. But it hates lusters and some other products that use the same ingredients...go figure

The weird thing is, products with mineral oil seem to soak into my hair but natural oils such as those used by Carol's Daughter inevitably sit on top of my hair and end up down my face making my face more greasy. It is the strangest thing.

I don't avoid it. Too many of the products that protect my ends and keep my scalp moisturized contain Mineral oil.

They say it clogs the pores and prevents growth - not a problem for me.

If I did not use my moisturizing leave in creams, my hair would break like crazy. Most of them contain mineral oil.

On the other hand, oils, as some suggest using, make my hair feel greasy because it tends to run down the strand.

I guess, as some one else on the board said, I use what works.

I use whatever works great on my hair. I would prefer not to use mineral oil, but, I don't completely avoid it.

Yes, like the plague. but truthfully it is actually helpful when i'm stretching and as long as it's not like the 1st or 2nd or 3rd ingredient listed....

yep...because most products marketed towards us only use it because it's cheaper than using quality oils that nourish the hair. i'd rather use natural oils that don't clog pores and sit on top of my hair.

Agreed. Natural is better. Mineral oil is an inferior lubricant, not moisturizer, that's marketed to us just because its cheap.

I feel that mineral oil just coats my hair without really moisturizing it . I do not get the same soft moisturized feel with mineral oil as I do with olive oil or coconut oil.

For the most part yes. but every other week i use my dominican products on one of my two poo days and they contain mineral oil and petroleum- but they make my hair look and feel great. Also my cholesterol contains mineral oil too.

Same here. I make sure it's listed way down the line on the ingredients list and I just make sure i clarify weekly! :)

I don't. Just about all my favorite products have mineral oil listed in the ingredients. As long as it's not one of the first 3 ingredients listed, then I'm alright. At the end of the day, if it works well for my hair with no ill effects, I'm all for it.

I avoid. I dont think I have a staple with either. I sweat in my head when I'm sleeping. Night sweats + Mineral oil= itchy scalp and bumps. :(

Yes I've been avoiding but really just by chance. After checking the labels on all of my products, there's only one that has mineral oil and it's not even something that I use often. I'll be sure to check the labels on any future purchases so that I can be sure to avoid.

I don't. Way too many of my favorite products have it in them and it already took so much time and money to get them. I'm really not willing to look anymore.

I try to avoid it as much as possible, but some products I use contain it, like ORS Olive oil and Ultra cholesterol(Dark and Lovely) and I love these products

I stopped using products with Mineral Oil about a year ago, I was so devastated to learn that my favorite conditioner , Silicon Mix , had it listed as the one of the first ingredients. (sigh).

There's mineral oil in some of the products I use. I haven't had a problem thus far. I just make sure it's not very high on the list of ingredients.
