Everyone loves a good reveal... (No straightened pics...:perplexed sorry guys)

My friends and family rarely get to see what's under my wigs...
Most people think I have no hair or am bald... Lol.

I started wearing wigs back in 2006 because of some major set backs... I lost clumps of hair and had bald patches...

I had another huge set back in 2010...


Now? I've just left it alone. I was 'done' with my hair.

(I haven't even come to the hair side of this forum in years :lol::lol:)
I'd wash and condition it just to maintain it and it would go back under a wig...


I believe I am at waist/ hip length

I stretched my hair in a twist to see where it reached, but I believe, if I untwisted it, and straightened it, it would reach my butt.


Any ideas for natural hairstyles would be appreciated since I'm going to do something to it for a natural hair show next week...

Congrats on the growth.

At some point are you going to stop relying on the wigs?
 
That's pretty much gonna be my regimen until I passs BSL. I started January of this year. I've had it doing all this work and making no progress. How often do you wash/condition your hair underneath the wig? How often do you take down the twists/braids underneath the wig?

That's what my mom says...

That point is now... This summer.. I'd love to wear it out... I just have to figure out quick and easy styling options for work....


The things I did with it when it was shorter, like twists and wash and goes ... Just wont cut it anymore....

As you see I have a lot of shrinkage too...

I know what you mean about the seeing no progress... I didn't see progress for a while... I had the perfect regimens, I was washing/conditioning my hair like twice a week under my wigs, etc...


Then... I got fed up.

That's when it all happened.

I wash my hair 1nce a week... More like 1nce every 2 weeks.
I make sure it well moisturized and conditioned all the time, and I do a lot of finger detangling in the shower if I can, Instead of brushing...

Conditioner! Lots!


Oh yeah, I don't take my hair out of twists a lot at all... I'll wash them in twists, unravel them, detangle maybe and then re twist.

It's only every so often like last night that I do a major unravel of the whole head to see what it all looks like

you have lovely full thick hair. I can see the dedication that you put into it. When your hairs that thick and long, the simplest styles show it off. If i were to do chunky twists in a high bun, i'd look a bit naff but you... You would look high fashion. :yep:

also you have beautiful luscious lips

Your hair is lovely. I wanna see pictures of when you find a style you like and go to the natural hair show. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks llan! I was thinking of a high bun as well... Going with chunky twists, I definitely will try that next week

And these lips? I love them now, but they were the bane of my existence when I was younger, lol

Gorgeous! You did great with your hair!

At this length, you could scrunch it up or let it hang in any style without even trying and it would still look good. That's what I used to do because I'm not the best at styling. I have no tips for you except to do braid-outs or twist-outs and to use those as the basis for other styles but check you tube for more elaborate dos.
 
What a beautiful head of hair. Lovely progress and i hope you find a style that suits you and you just rock it!

Girl, your shrinkage percentage looks just like mine. It's crazy how HIP Length stretched = shoulder length curly.
 
What were the two major setbacks you mentioned? What happened? I love to hear the setback and comback stories. Your hair looks good.
 
Wow! Gorgeous hair!! You are such an inspiration. I too wear wigs - mostly to work now. People swear I have no hair. I did a big chop in Feb and can't wait til it grows long.
