So I cowashed my hair for the second time within the last two weeks. I noticed an increase in shedding and I am just beside myself. I did some searching on here and see that it is normal for some people. This does NOT make me feel any better lol. It does not seem like a lot but i am just not used to seeing so many strands ugh...... My second hair journey started about two years ago and I so do not remember this occurring. Before that my hair was breaking so much it really didn't make a difference what season it was:lol:. Is there anyone else going through this right now or in any other season? If so could you please tell me how long this madness will continue:nono:

Is the amount of hair that you see just because the infrequency of co-washing? I know that I can personally tell a difference in the amount of hair that comes out if I co-wash every day as opposed to every 2-3 days. If it was longer for me like 2 weeks I'd be very alarmed at how much was coming out plus the shed hair would cause tangles causing me to break off extra hair. It's not that I'm not losing any more hair, it's just not coming out because it doesn't come out until I wash.

But are you thinking that it is related to the change in season? Maybe as the weather is getting warmer but not humid where your hair can soak up the moisture in the air, your hair is becoming dry faster?

You could be right about this. I have been cowashing days apart as opposed to daily like I normally do. I'll try again tonight. If it is the same I might pass clean out. I will let you know. Thank you.

keep us updated. I'd love to know if its possibly another issue so that we may all offer you alternative advice

I was just talking about this with my SO. My hair definitely sheds more when the seasons are changing. I think I shed a bunch then my hair growth accelerates into the spring/summer. I don't change what I do I just continue with my healthy hair practices and Ps'ing most days.

I know some people swear by garlic products for shedding but I think mine is just a natural cycle.

My hair started shedding like crazy this past Fall. It went on for weeks. Not sure when it would have stopped on it's own, but I started taking an iron pill (18mg) and some saw palmetto to help. My shedding decreased dramatically and I started losing maybe 1/4th or 1/5th of the amount of hair that I had been losing.

Thanks, OP, for starting this thread - this has been happening to me, too! Since I co-wash, I notice any daily increase or decrease of shed hair, and I've been experiencing what seems to be an increase in my "normal" shedding over the past month or so. I have upped my tea rinses and started taking garlic again to help combat until summer arrives and the increased shedding stops.

But every spring, it is the same cycle - I start shedding more, and freak out, then remember what time of year it is....:drunk:

I shed the most during winter and my hair grows like weeds in the summer. I think we just have seasons of shedding and seasons of growing. Is your "shedding" hair with bulbs at the end?
