Recommendation for hair scissors/shears

any recs for hair shears to trim/cut hair?

I actually have 4 pairs of sheers. All diff brands. I can't even tell you the names. But the quality is good. Think I purchased them for about $15 a piece from Walgreens one day.

I heard tweezarman makes some good ones. I have been using my $100(Sale Price) Fromm German Made for two years, and they are still sharp.

I just bought another pair of Goody Prifessional stainless steel shears, scissors w/pouch. They only cost about $10 and are very sharp and comes with a nice little case. I like that you can tighten or loosen them with a knob. I keep mine nice and tight for the best cut for mine and DD's fine hair.

I recently bought these from Tweezerman. I haven't used them yet but they seem sharp and sturdy enough to last a while. I read in the curly girl book that it's best to purchase more expensive shears because they stay sharp much longer than cheap ones, this brand (Hikari) was listed as a great place to buy shears that can last almost forever. I didn't want to pay that much for shears but I know I will eventually.

i would be scared to spend so much money ,
what if i lose the shears? the hikari looks very nice though but i lost my last pair of shears

Does it make a difference what type of scissors you use to trim? I'm thinking that I'm going to start trimming the back of my hair every six months to get rid of the see through ends. I don't think that I can handle (mentally) cutting it all off at once.

IIRC you want smooth blades and sharp edges.

I purchased FROMM shears from Sally's made of Japenese steel (this type of steel "suppose" to be good). I love them. They seriously cut like a hot knife through butter. All previous scissors were of BSS quality. Although they were good, they didn't offer that super smooth cut as it passed across the hair.

If you need to trim out a small, quick knot, eyebrow/nose scissors work.
