Any Naturals Shampooing With Shampoo Bars?

I like it i use chagrin valley poo bars. I like the olive and babassau(sp?) a lot. I bought the sample size they last very long.

I was using the Chagrin Valley Coconut Milk Shampoo Bar. It was good in the beginning, but eventually I noticed a slight coated feeling on my hair.

Her customer service and shipping is excellent, though, and those bars (even in sample size) last for a very long time.

I used to use the Chagrin Valley bars, too. My favorites were the Neem & Tea Tree and Mud & Clay. I only switched because I wanted my staples to be from fewer companies/ vendors.

I was just talking about shampoo bars in another thread.

Bee mine bars are the real deal. They leave my hair soft and clean without stripping. The Auyevedic one is my fave, but also lurve the Rhassoul clay bar.

I used to use the ones by Oyin. I was a pj back then and tried everything not really giving myself a chance to see how anything worked on my hair.

Now I mostly cowash or use Wen 613 which I like. If I feel I need a more thorough cleanse I use a shampoo by Shea moisture for deep cleansing.

I think I remember the Oyin bars leaving my hair feeling coated .

Tryed two of the Chagrin Valley bars. My hair felt stripped and coated at the same time. :( I then tried Bobeam which I liked better but I felt that they were not better than the cleansers I already use. I will say that Cheris Hibiscus by Bobeam is wonderful and so moisterizing for my face. Will definitely use again. However, it did nothing for my hair.

I was using the CV bars for a while until my scalp started to feel sore/tender so I had to stop using them. Now I use the Bobeam bar in Honey and Oats (sold at curlmart.com). I really like this one and I've used it for several months without any problems so far. It cleanses well, but is not stripping, so my hair still feels soft after using it.

I have a ton of Chagrin Valley shampoo bars. I bought sample sizes. I've only tried the mud & clay one, which I liked. I have the body bars too and used one today.

They are in the right corner in my hair pantry, in little brown paper bags.

I did a review of the Mud & Clay shampoo bar on my blog here: http://goingnaturaltransitionington...atural-hair/shampoo-bar-sulfate-free-shampoo/

I really need to try the others.

I'm relaxed now but I was natural for a bit and I used Chagrin Valley, Hairveda, Afroveda and KBB bars. My favorite bars are the Afroveda and KBB. The CV and HV bars left a coated feeling that required an acv rinse.

yesss.

I've been using them off and on for the past...five years or so, and I use them exclusively throughout the fall and winter.

Any of the chagrin valley shampoo bars work well for me, and the bobeam ones are nice as well.

It does leave that different feeling on my hair but once I throw on my deep conditioner, it's gone, and my hair is soft as heck afterwards.

I have a bunch of Chagrin valley sample bars as well. I don't dislike them I just never end up grabbing them first thing when it's time to wash my hair. Lately I've tried liquid African black soap and I love it!

Right?! I was just thinking about trying their bars. So much for that -__-

I used to use duduosun (african black soap bar) and the shikakai ayurvedic bar. Haven't used them in a while, but of the two, I preferred the shikakai bar (and its inexpensive).

I kind of want to make my own hmmmm....

There is more love for chagrin on other boards I've been on. Their nettle shampoo bar helped grow my niece's hair back.

I bought all of these Chagrin Valley soap samples:

Ayurvedic Herb Shampoo Sample
Buttery Conditioner Shampoo Bar Sample
Cafe Moreno Shampoo Bar Sample
Honey Beer and Egg Shampoo Sample
Mud & Clay Shampoo Sample - (used and liked this one)
Neem & Tea Tree Oil Body & Hair Shampoo Sample
Nettle Shampoo Sample
Olive Babassu Shampoo Sample
Rosemary Lavender Aloe Shampoo Sample

Aloe, Aloe, Aloe Soap Sample
Avocado Shea Soap Sample
Bananas & Cream Complexion Soap Sample
Castile & Calendula Soap Sample (used and like this one, DH likes it too)
Cornmeal & Honey Soap Sample
Dead Sea Spa Soap Sample (used this one, it's a bit drying, but I already have dry skin)
Grapeseed Tomato Shea Soap Sample
Honey Butter Soap Sample
Rhassoul Clay & Yogurt Complexion Soap Sample (used this one & like it a lot)
Sea Salt & Seaweed Spa Soap Sample
Shea Rose Clay Soap Sample

I received these from another member when I was thinking about buying:
Carrot, Milk & Honey
Neem & Tea Tree
Extra Honey Beer & Egg
Lavender Spice
Olive Babassu

They are in the pantry instead of the bathroom so I just don't reach for them on wash day. I need to make a conscious effort to use them.

I tried 2 moisturising shampoo bars from Anita Grant a couple years ago. I didn't like them that much because I use shea butter to moisturise and the bars weren't getting it out.
I like Jumping Juniper from Lush. It's great.

Chagrin Valley shampoo bars have great reviews, I read tons of them on this board as well as other places online before I ordered some samples last year. Because of a post by Empressi about her niece's hair growth after the use of the nettle bar, I ordered a sample of that and a couple of others. The samples really do last a long time. After I finished the nettle bar I didn't reorder because I really didn't like the coated feeling on my hair that others have mentioned. BUT she clearly explains on her website that you may feel this, why, and to follow up your wash with an ACV rinse. I was just too lazy to remember the ACV rinse. Now that I do a final rinse with every wash/cowash, I may re-order to use on wash days that I don't feel like mixing up my bentonite clay/oil mask. Don't sleep on Chagrin Valley - try some samples and decide for yourself.

Bee mine bars are the real deal. They leave my hair soft and clean without stripping. The Auyevedic one is my fave, but also lurve the Rhassoul clay bar.

I like the Bee Mine shampoo bars also.

I finally tried the Chargin Valley Ayurvedic Herb Shampoo Sample and I really liked it. It was cleansing but without stripping my hair.

I've used 3 of the Chagrin Valley shampoo bars (Ayurvedic Herb, Babassu Marsh Mallow, and Butter Bar Conditioner). I agree with what most of the others have said...after a while, my hair kinda feels coated and stripped. The samples do last a long time tho. I'm really curious now to try some of the other bars mentioned in this thread.

I use the senk shampoo bar from senica naturals. I got a sample size with my curlbox and really like it. Hair did not tangle and did not feel dry

I used to use CV bars and I loved them. The coated feeling IIRC comes from using products with cones in them. I don't use cones and I've never had that coated feeling. If you get it though all you need is an ACV rinse. Those bars were the only thing I had tried that got my hair clean without stripping it. I stopped using them for my hair because I make my own shampoo now, but I still use her soaps for bathing.
