Giovanni Xtreme Protein Hair Infusion

I love this stuff but I don't really consider it to be substantial protein. It smells clean and fresh and is super creamy. My hair drinks this stuff up.

Here's a picture of it:

Bumping for more responses...

I was looking at this in the store the other day...and I really don't think it's that strong of a protein treatment based on the ingredients...at least it doesn't seem like it'll be much stronger than the regular Smooth as Silk Conditioner.

Ingredients:
Certified *citrus grandis (grapefruit), citrus aurantium dulcis (orange), *citrus medica limonum (lemon) peel, echinacea angustifolia (coneflower) extract, olea europaea (olive) leaf, punica granatum (pomegranate), butyrospermum parkii (shea butter) oil, glycine soja (soybean) protein, macadamia ternifolia (macadamia nut) oil, aleurites moluccana (kukui nut) seed oil, simmondsia chinensis (jojoba) seed oil, *aloe barbadensis (aloe vera) leaf extract, cetyl alcohol, dimethicone, cetrimonium bromide, tocopheryl acetate (vitamin e), polysorbate 60, sodium hydroxymethylglycinate, fragrance.

Regular Smooth as Silk ingredients:
Aqua (purified water) with *rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis) oil, *nettle (Uritica dioica) oil, *thyme (Thymus vulagris) oil, birch leaf (Butela alba) oil, *chamomile (Anthemis nobilus flower) oil, *clary (Salvia sclarea), *lavender (Lavandula angustifolia), *coltsfoot leaf (Tussilago farfara), *yarrow (Achillea millefolium) oil, *mallow (Malva sylvestris), *horsetail (Equistetum arvense) oil, *soybean protein (Glycine soja), cetyl alcohol (plant derived), stearalkonium chloride, tocopherol (vitamin E), trace minerals, citric acid (corn), sodium hydroxymethyglycinate, grapefruit seed (citrus derived).

If you take out the extracts at the beginning (which make no real difference in the product) and compare the ingredient lists they really aren't that different.

And I just checked the NutraFix ingredients and they're pretty much the same as well:
Aqua (purified water) with *rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis) oil, *nettle (Uritica dioica) oil, *thyme (Thymus vulagris) oil, birch leaf (Butela alba) oil, *chamomile (Anthemis nobilus flower) oil, *clary (Salvia sclarea), *lavender (Lavandula angustifolia), *coltsfoot leaf (Tussilago farfara), *yarrow (Achillea millefolium) oil, *mallow (Malva sylvestris), *horsetail (Equistetum arvense) oil, *soybean protein (Glycine soja), cetyl alcohol (plant derived), stearalkonium chloride, tocopherol (vitamin E), trace minerals, citric acid (corn), sodium hydroxymethyglycinate, grapefruit seed (citrus derived).

It looks like they're all basically the same product :lachen:.

Yup! I have It. But I Haven't gotten around to using it Yet.:look:

Hopefully I will like it as much as the Nutra-Fix Reconstructor.

Yeah, I bought the nutrifix reconstructor. It makes my hair feel strong and is a great light protein treatment. But I thought I might be able to use the SAS Xtreme as a hard protein treatment to use the week after I relax. But I'm trying to figure if this treatment is stronger than the nutrifix or not.

I don't think it is stronger...looks the same to me.

Yeah, the nutrifix will probably be enough. I also bought the magnetic reconstructing conditioner (got it cheap at marshall's), which I've yet to try. One day I'll probably buy one of the small packets to try it out.

I've learned that you can't really judge a products effectiveness according to the similarity of their ingredients. For example, I can use the smooth as silk conditioner daily and it doesn't leave my hair feeling overly stiff like it OD'd on protein. But I tried using the Nutrifix as a rinse-out (ran out of rinse-out conditioner), thinking it would be the same, and by the second or third co-wash my hair felt crunchy and stiff (protein over-load). Similarly, White Rain's volumizing conditioner has the same ingredients as the non-volumizing conditioner (the one in the naturals line), but the volumizing conditioner makes my hair look so puffy and airy, whereas the other one does not. I know, it's weird .

Oh, I agree with you. The concentrations of the ingredients may be completely different and that's why one is a regular conditioner and the others are for more infrequent use. But just at first glance, they appear to be the same product. So one has to wonder if they're worth the money.

Even so, I don't think any of them are meant to be a "hard" protein treatment the way we think of it on the board.

I've used this before -- the packets. I don't consider it very protein-y, but it did give my hair great slip! :yep:

I've been hearing this result a lot, so it seems you are right msa. It seems to have a silkening affect rather than a hard protein affect. The nutrifix gives strong enough results for me, though, so i guess I'll stick with that.

Used this last night and my hair was so soft and silky. Made my ng so soft and as my hair airdried, my hair including ng is still very soft. I wasn't sure whether to use a moisturizing conditioner after this b/c it says protein:look:. However I did use Mizani Moisturfuse afterwards, but dont think I needed to. This is now a staple for me while stretching.:yep:

I love this and use it to detangle, but I hated the Nutrifix. Kinkerbelle - I have silk amino acid powder and am wondering how to use it...how much of your liquid saa do you add to your products?

I add just a couple of teaspoons. Not much. And probably about a dollop of lecithin when I use it. I might have to search for the powder. Never used it before. Might be good to add to bentonite clay!

bump

GOTDAWG i used this last night and i have to say, i realllly liked it.

my hair did feel like silk, strong silk afterwards. i already have the conditioner somewhere in my house now i want to try the shampoo.

i used like half the tube lol but i really liked it. didnt need to use a moisturizing condish afterwards either. wish this came in a big bottle.

Doing some research and came up on this thread. I have this in my shopping cart. I see the protein in this product is higher up on the ingredients list, I agree its not a hard protein however.

Is there anywhere to get this on the ground?
Is there anywhere that sells it in more than 5.1oz?

Found mine at Marshall's. Had it for a few months and just used it for the first time really liked it. Gave me great slip! Next time I will leave it on a little longer.
