Here's another after its dried a bit.

* Another Question *

My hair feels dry When it's wet, like I can feel its wet but the actual strands feels dry and brittle. But its fine when dry. What does this mean?

Very nice! The dry when wet feeling UR describing sounds like low porosity. There's a support thread going on here. Hth

You look to be mostly 4a. My hair looked like that the first few months after my BC. Then the longer it gets you'll see more defined ringlets.

To combat the dryness try doing long/longer DC so the product has time to work its way into the hair shaft. Always add your leave-ins on wet hair. And seal on damp hair.

How long has it taken for you to get to your length now? And what did you do to get there?

Do you have any recommendations for deep conditioners ? Have yet to find one I really like

I think your hair is 4a/b. BTW you are well past twa stage. TWA = teeny weeny afro = like Jill Scott on the cover of this month's Essence. When your hair is that short it can't hang. So if you have any kind of hang you have an afro but it's not teeny. :)

WooHooo yayy!! That just made my day! HaAh Im so corny, but I'm so excited to have seen progress. BCing was so hard for me, but im determined to stick with it, and hearing I've made it out of twa is amaaaazing

You've got some great advice so far and you're asking good questions, imo. But I believe you have some type 3 curls too, an overall mixture that will likely change alot as your hair grows and reaches optimal health. HHG! Gorgeous hair!

Dry when wet, the story of my hair life. You should see some of the early threads I started. It took 5 years...did you hear me, 5 years to finally get to the bottom of this! PROTEIN. Protein and reconstructor deep conditioner's are the only thing that allow my hair to accept water & moisture. I have to do them weekly. It may sound odd, but in order to begin to accept moisture, I have to do a protein conditioner first. I had been using the reconstructor/protein-moisture4 balanced Aubrey Organics GPB (AO Gpb) deep conditioner (on dry or damp hair) weekly. The first conditioner to ever make my hair feel moist 'n wet. Now I alternate between AO Gpb and a pure protein Nexxus Emergencee (followed by a moisture cond'r). These conditioners help to build up your strand, and the effects last about a week so you have to repeat the process. You should feel your strands getting better and stronger each week--- but you will notice an immediate difference if this your issue.

I had the same issue hair feeling rough and dry even while wet I started a thread on it. Protein ended my problem point blank!

Do you have any recommendations for protein treatments? Should I do it with a dc ?

Might be scab hair, I don't know for sure though. I would start with a fresh, clean palette. I would do a clarifying wash, then dc with heat, or with a bag on your head wrapped in a warm towel overnight or for several hours.

Make sure the dc is moisturizing and not protein based.

When you rinse out, do a final rinse with cold (or as cool as you can stand) water. Then apply your moisturizing leave-in, and seal with oil. After I do this, I will sit under a plastic cap for 30min - 1hr. Then I remove the cap, and let it air dry.

The next day once i remove my twists, they are stretched, soft and I know my strands are well moisturized. Remember, moisture = water, or water based products.

As a fairly new natural, you are gonna have to see what your hair likes and doesn't like. That's why I would start with the clarifying wash, then take it from there. Hth!
