I voted texlaxed.

I love my natural hair, but when I was texlaxed, I had less ssk and tangling issues.

Since my hair is fine & 4b, a bone straight relaxer job always lead to breakage.

Before I started my healthy hair journey....Being relaxed and natural was hard to manage.

Yeah I could run a comb through my hair when relaxed if that's what you consider "easier to manage" but a bunch of broke off hair fell out.

When natural it was soft, and nice to wash, and I didn't have the fuss of salon visits, but I had tangles and SSK's....

I think both are difficult to manage if its not healthy. JMHO.
 
My hair is much more manageable texlaxed. I've had a pleasant realtionship with my relaxed hair.

I also knew some people with relaxers who felt they should have been able to:

1. have DOUBLE-processed (relaxed and colored) hair that they could
2. use heat daily
3. blow dry THEN hot curl weekly or daily
4. never balance proetin and moisture
5. grease scalp and never moisturize the hair with cream

I could go on and on....your hair SHOULD be brittle if you do that :(

Then many stop everything bad, blame the relaxer, and FINALLY care for their hair un-treated; I've always babied my hair :) Every time I go pass a salon frying and dying I cringe..many of those ladies will later blame "relaxers"

I too did not vote because I just started my natural hair journey. My relaxed hair was healthy until a HUGE setback which made me go natural. For me it was just a change of pace. As my hair continues to grow and I find natural is too much to manage I have no qualms about either heat training or relaxing again.
 
Hair is hard to manage until you find the right balance for your hair so since I had no idea what I was doing when I had that jherri curl way back in the day which was then relaxed (totally over processed mess) and once all that broke off I still didn't know what I was doing. I vote natural because I finally know what I'm doing and my hair is super simple to care for.
 
I voted Jerri Curl! LOL! And I think I'm the only one who did. Back in the 80s, all I had to do was get my monthly touch-ups, shampoo, spray and go. That's it! And my hair grew so fast. It was thicker and a little past my shoulders which was long for me. I don't ever remember even half of the things I go through with relaxers and natural hair. So, I'm natural now and loving it, but relaxed, natural and texlaxed even has its challenges.
 
Natural. I've been natural most of my life. I relaxed my hair and had no idea what to do. Even now when I straighten my hair I don't know what to do with it.

For me....it's a tie. My natural hair takes just as much work as my relaxed hair did. I love being natural a lot more.
When i was relaxed...idk...my hair just wouldn't act right. Like my hair would look nice and sleek but the front and the edges would act wild. I dreaded the relaxing process....i just got tired of doing it. *shrug*

Now that im natural...my hair ALWAYS looks right. My edges blend with my hair:lol: there's no relaxer itch, i don't worry about burning my scalp...i would burn easily with a relaxer. No weird scabby stuff on my scalp....no more dandruff issues. I just add water and conditioner and my hair IS a style.

I don't spend hours detangling like some naturals say they do and i fingercomb. I love being natural!:woot: the longest it takes me to detangle is about 15-20 minutes.

Even when i was relaxed i always wanted curly curly hair. I always liked to get spiral sets, curls all over my head. I was in heaven when i tried the flexi rods!

My hair also grows faster now that im natural.

I would have to say permed hair was the easiest to care for...because I didn't have very much hair when it was permed cause it was on the floor and not on my head. It was broken off and very damaged and never passed SL.
 
I'd say texturized, although my natural hair was also easy to care for....once I learned how to care for it. Same goes for my relaxed hair...once I learned how to care for it, it was super easy to care for. Although, it was also because I was going to the Dominicans like every 2 weeks...

My texturized hair could Not be easier to care for...exactly what I was looking for!

Exactly how I feel! I ALWAYS wanted curly hair. I was always so envious of curly girls, and now I'm a curly girl too! Couldn't be more pleased! WnG hair is the Bestest!

I was relaxed for almost 20 years. I've been natural for 7. My natural hair is much easier. For me, doing my own chemical process would be a headache, so not having to worry about that makes it easy. And I'm not dependent on a stylist anymore. I don't have to worry about over/under processing.

Also, I can do more long term PS with my natural hair. I would have to wait for months of new growth if I wanted to do mini braids with a relaxer, and twists would be out of the question. My relaxed hair would have to be combed and styled daily. Even curly styles didn't last more than a few days.

Relaxed was easier, but I love my natural hair so much more. So thick, coily, kinky, and I have lots less breakage.
 
I haven't had all of those different types of hair. I have had relaxed and I now have about 25 weeks post relaxer worth of new growth. My hair is just as easy to manage as when it was bone straight. It all has to do with my DC'ing, regular moisturizing and I also accredit it to MSM, my baby.
 
Both natural and relaxed. I think the question should be what styles do you prefer to wear your hair, and which is easier for you to work with that style. I had a period when I preferred natural and now I prefer relaxed, I'm considering texlaxing now too

natural .... getting there .... it not hard but its not easy either
let me clarify with true stories :lachen:

say Im washing my hair and my BF calls to say he wants us to go somewhere

relaxed scenario:

me: OK hun lemmi just wash out this conditioner.... I throw my hair in a bun, or depending on how much time I have blow dry and a quick run through with a flat iron (20 mins tops)

natural scenario:
me: I JUST started washing my haaaair
BF: OK we can go another time

For me, natural. I got to WL relaxed and was perfectly happy with it, but in hindsight, the rollersetting and relaxing in sections and flat ironing the roots....that was a lot of work.

I dont have to do anything to make my natural hair look good or healthy because it's healthy by default. It's just about styling it the way I like it. Once I style it, I leave it alone.

The first two years or so I would say my natural hair was easy to take care of. My natural hair only became difficult for me when it got longer. By about the fifth year it was too time consuming to deal with. Now I find my hair more manageable relaxed. I usually just pull back my hair. Because my natural hair was so thick and dense and a 4bz, it took years before I could get a decent puff even then, I could only pull it back if I blow dried it straighter.

Natural. I just dampen my hair in the shower. Rake some conditioner through and go on about my day. I'm super low maintenance and use about 3 products. I wear mini braids a few times a year and when I do, I do almost nothing besides weekly cowash :look: to my hair.

Sometimes reading relaxer day regi's makes my head spin. I'll leave the chemistry for the lab.

This!!! Im very low maintenance. Maybe that's why its easy for me? Im treating myself to twists right now...i dont do them often at all.

When I was relaxed/texlaxed my hair was healthy so I never had a problem with managing it. It was before the boards when it was hard to manage my hair due to not knowing how to care for it. But I prefer my natural hair and find it the easiest to deal with, especially with length.
 
Natural for me. Natural hair has more styling options and no more worrying about getting touch ups which I rarely did anyway. Only cons I have is getting a relaxer in the first place, frizz, and reversion which all could be easily controlled. But I would rather deal with that then the constant breakage, burning scalp, high maintenance regimen, and limp hair that a relaxer gives me.

I also NEVER had the 2 hour detangling sessions or spending a whole weekend to do my hair. It only takes about 15 mins to wash, detangle & condition my hair.

They both (natural/relaxed) are about the same for me: some things are easier for me now with natural hair...some things were easier for me when I was getting relaxers. It does seem simpler overall (for me, IMO) to just let my hair grow out of my scalp versus having to get touch ups...but the pros and cons of both seem to equal out for me.
 
Anyone remember Leisure Curl? That stuff was the biz. You could wear your hair straight like a relaxer or curly like a Jheri Curl...........until it broke ALL my hair off when I was 15 years old. They didn't tell you that if you treat it like you had a relaxer your hair would be bone dry - ie juiceless.
