Gel without glycerin for wash-n-go or pomade for braidout and such. I am wearing a wash n go on dy 3 with fote gel for sunburns.
Do you do steam treatments or hydration?
I'm from Florida but when I do visit and when I pressed alot it helped me when I was getting steam treatments from saving me from the humidity.
Then when I didn't think it would work for the pressing and straight look... i would do flexi rod's on dry hair overnight and then just pull back with a hair band and im good!! Still a cute and very easy style to manage...
Z-kitty said:I dont have a steamer so thats not an option right now. I look a hot mess the entire time I'm here. If I do a bun then my edges get fuzzy no matter what I do.
I'm anti BKT for the moment and considering Im only in FL 4-6 days a month it woundnt be a good investment.
For fuzzy edges you need to be heavy handed with a butter and use a edge smoother ,that will do,it works for my mother's 4b s hair.
I live in ATL, but I visit FL and the islands quite often. I find to fight humidity, you have to find a product that ensures your hair is moisturized and a product that ensures your cuticles lay flat. The most inexpensive product I find that lays my cuticles is the Eden Body Works Jojoba Monoi Oil Mist.
@westNDNbeauty I love your blog. Due to your post on Entwine Couture and humidy.... I am $28 dollars poorer --> make that $68 because I purchased all their products.
Do you mist after you untwist or during the styling process?
I twisted last night with SM Souflee and original moxie pomade and I still had a FRO within an hour. The SM does have glycerin so that may be the culprit.
I usef curls pomade, for me sm soufle was too moisturing for my styles.
I found that when I lived in Florida any product with glycerin or oil would poof my hair in a minute. I now live in Alabama where the humidity isn't as bad, but I'm still careful of glycerin in the summer months.
I visit Florida about once a month, just this weekend I was there and my hair held up well. I used a gel with great hold (Fantasia IC gel) and my twist-out definition stayed intact.
Just a little more heavy handed with product and I make sure to have stylers with extra hold. Other than that I don't have problems. It's 90 degrees today and my twistout held up well. I also wear weather proof styles like buns, twists, puffs and my trusty dusty beanie. W&G's on the other hand, are tricky. I have to sleep with a grocery bag on my head everynight to stretch the curl to keep it elongated to a certain length and I absolutely can't touch my hair too much or else frizz will happen, especially in the front where I dont have too much definition. My w&g's get big, but they never dry.![]()
~~HoneyComb~~ Does the IC gel result in hard hair?
