ravenmerlita said:I have experience with it. I love it even more than regular henna. I bought mine from mehandi.com.
The cassia treatment left my hair shinier, thicker and my hair seemed to retain moisture better in the weeks following the cassia. The cassia was also very easy to use, I just mixed it with water, oil and yogurt, let it sit for 20 minutes and then put it on my hair and sat under a heat cap for one hour. It was a little stiff to put on but I realize now that I didn't have the consistency right (I made it like a paste, but next time will make it thinner). It took about 10 minutes to rinse it all out.
I could tell immediately that my hair felt thicker and better conditioned. HTH!
HoneyDew said:Also, cassia users can you share your mixtures. I mix an ounce of the powder with 4 oz. water and about a tablespoon of honey.
My mixture is coming out too watery, though. I need to increase the powder or decrease the water next time.
I know that it has been suggested to use CMC (Carboxyl Methyl Cellulose) to thicken
indigo paste. I wonder if that will work with cassia.
WomanlyCharm said:Or just try the regular gel pectin from the store, I use that in my indigo and it gives fantastic results...a perfectly spreadable paste of the right consistancy that rinses out easily.
D Marie said:I went to mehandi.com to buy some cassia and it suggested 500g if you have long hair that's $41.50Is this how much I have to use everytime? If so I will have to pass. Any sugesstions?

thanks for the info. i might want to try this....going to find the "do yall henna?" thread...ravenmerlita said:I added oil and yogurt to mine because I heard that it made it easier to rinse it out and they added to the conditioning effect. However, the directions said to mix with water.
dstdiva said:do you have to add anything to it? can you just use water? what do the other ingredients add? or is it just to help with drippiness? just curious.
Lanelle said:So basically everyone mixes their Cassia Obovata like they would regular henna--pectin and all?
HoneyDew said:I used it today with plain nonfat yogurt. I had a much better experience with application and rinsing. It was a bit thick at 1st with 1 cup of the yogurt and 3 ounces of powder (actually 1 ounce cassia and 2 ounces of neutral Hennalucent) so I added about 2 ounces of hot water to thin it out.

I am using yogurt from now on, but I think I am going to try adding some honey or olive oil for extra conditioning.
How did the cassia turn out for you? What exactly does it do for the hair? and How often now will you do it?JLove74 said:I don't use pectin, just water....
