I used Batik Loose Body Bulk 18" and I kept the 18 inch length.Its cheap at 9.99 per pack, super soft and "flat" so the braids arent bulky. i used 3 packs. My hair is between shoulder and armpit and no of mine is sticking out she braided them further down the braid shaft to avoid this if that makes sense. I left the edges and nape of my neck alone. hope that helps.

I think I'm going to get this style. My sides are full APL and back grazing BSL...I just want don't want the braided part to come down too long.

well the good thing about the 18 inches is that the top layers in the back cover alot of whats braided on the lower layers of braids - if that makes sense - the out hair hangs over alot of what braided underneath - almost in long layers so you dont really see it. from the back it looks more out than braided
