Just watned to know. I may just use some grease. TIA!

ETA: And I'd actually rather something a bit heavier since my hair is short.

I came in to ask don't you think a pomade would be too heavy? But I see that is what you are going for, so nevermind. lol. I like my flat ironed hair to be as light and swangy as possible.

I never heard of flat ironing with a pomade. It sounds like it would be a greasy mess. There has to be a better way.

how short is your hair again? Keracare Creme Hairdress is pretty good. it's light and can be used with heat. also depending on how short your hair is, you can mold it with setting lotion, get some neck strips to hold the sides/edges down, and sit under the dryer. spray with a light hair polish or heat protectant to break up the mold (hair shouldn't be hard/too stiff to comb out) and flat iron/curl your hair. that with give you some hold too. you can do this with hair that is neck length or shorter (pixie)

Keracare creme press and or aveda anti humectant. I have use soft sheen satin press which is good for a more weighed down press.

Thanks yall.

And shortdub78 I'm going to try the molding thing, but my texlaxed hair doesn't really lay down like that. I do want something though that'll give my curls a hold so that I don't even have to do anything to them at night. Maybe rollerset the crown.

Also yall, is the Keracare hairdress water-based?

KeraCare Conditioning Creme Hairdress is water based. it gives sheen to dry hair, helps protect against heat styling, and retain freedom in hair movement. (that's what the jar states) i have it and use it sometimes on my edges when i need to press them out a little. i believe the creme press is not water based. the creme hairdress is not creamy though. i mean it is solid in the jar, it is not super oily. it is really light. that Aveda Anti Humectant is great too. just find a salon that carries Aveda products to purchase it, if you don't want to order it online.

the method i posted upthread is how stylists set and style short hair. the molding technique aids in setting the style in the direction you want it to go and to help it lay flat. it helps to give a more sharp/clean look to the style vs flowy and bouncy.

shortdub78 Thanks girly; Yea I think I can do that molding when my hair is bone straight, but I do want a sleeker look if I'm washing weekly. I'll have to try it out again and see what's up

For short 'dos I use Joico Creme Wax

It smells really good, gives good sheen and moderate hold.

I don't use pomade :/ Just heat protectant, CHI silk infusion, and Garnier Fructis hair putty on my edges if they need it to smooth them down (instead of gel)

can this be used on damp/wet hair or dry? i am asking because my mother rocks a pixie and i am a hair product junkie! i like stuff i can use on my edges too.

shortdub78 I use it on dry hair before I flat iron or marcel. I imagine that you can use it on wet hair too though. :yep: I've used it on edges to lay them down, although if you are stretching, I would suggest something heavier.

Hey so I relaxed some of the texlax out of my hair and was able to do that laid down set. I just used leave-in and a scarf to keep the back flat. Super easy. I haven't been able to do this in a loooooooong time.

I am relaxed. my hair is in that weird area where it's not really neck length but not fully SL either. It's grown though from when I started ^_^

I used to use Keracare's Creme press, but I started using Murray's Beeswax and it worked great. Either way, I would use it on the roots only.
