Is there a natural hair overkill going on?

  • No. Natural hair is still relatively new to people and there is always room for one more.

It's like this: there is a lid for every pot.

While some folks HATE rambling (as I tend to do) I have a lot of viewers that love it and actually want me to post random stuff where I might be talking about something other than hair stuff.

So.....do you.

I'm not terribly picky at what I watch, but if someone is talking and cussing like a Somali sailor....I will turn the video off with the quickness.

I like real videos though, like if I see you on youtube and then see you on the street and you're the same, I can dig.

For me it becomes less about the hair and more able the personality and style.

whoissugar - brightens up my day
richeau/EmpressRi - BFF material
denimpixie is a straight shooter; no BS
MahoganyCurls - I love her simplicity
Naptural85 - The style master
UrbanBushBabes - Love the how to's, even it its a lot of talk
OurLadyLourdes - I just like her videos

Hair Crushes
ChakaKhanian

There are many others but this is just a few.

MissAlinaRose - I would love to see of your hair. I don't think there's a shortage of long hair videos.

I think there will always be a need for product reviews. #1 Products get discontinued every day. If your old reliable gets axed, then you're on the hunt for more. Hair care generally is a lot of trial and error, so any time I have the need to try something new, vids and message boards will always be helpful.

Tell me about it! I'm still rolling my eyes and sucking my teeth because Redken's Smooth Down Detangling Cream Leave-In has been discontinued.

Oh I can absolutely understand how ppl will like the rambling especially when they start to feel like the "know" you. I totally get that. I think we all have some sort of thing we look for when gravitating toward certain people and their videos.

Re the bolded part: I feel that too!

For me it becomes less about the hair and more able the personality and style. >>:yep: I agree. I think that's what I've gotten a lot from the responses too. Interesting.

I appreciate that greenandchic. I don't know if ya'll would be ready for my country behind though.

Interesting convo nonetheless ladies!

You know what's crazy? I remember a thread awhile back saying Nioxin Bliss Thermal Spray was discontinued, and I currently and consistently see BOTTLES of this product in my local grocery store. I may have to see if Redken's is in there. I may have to hook a sista up darlingdiva

I think you guys should do your videos because sometimes its not just the video itself its the persons personality and the way they get their point across

This is an honest question: Is there a natural hair overkill going on or will there always be room for someone or something fresh?

The reason why I ask is because I was about to record some hair maintenance videos when I thought to myself, "Why?" If I type in twists, updos, straightening, weaves, braids, etc. into youtube everybody's kinfolk pops up in the search results. Seriously, what else could you do?? What else could people want to see that hasn't been done thousands of times? This happens EVERY.SINGLE.TIME I sit down to do it. I just stop.

*note: I realize that women will always have a need and/or desire to keep their hair, skin, body, style, etc. in check and that people are always searching for an easier way to do something. To me, however, it just seems like the bases are covered. What do you think?

MissAlinaRose

I think you should go ahead and make videos. Why not.. I think you'd be good at it. No one has invented the wheel. Every category of product or service has different things or different people to offer and they offer something different back to the community.

If you go to a (departement) store you see different types of the same thing. Different dresses, different shoes, etc. That's how I see Youtube. People that may talk about the same topic but present it in a different way (personality, camera, editing, etc) from eachother to cater to whomever feels connected to their stories.

I say make the videos. As long as they are your own thoughts,
reggies etc. Then even though the concepts may be similar you will have added your own unique touch to it. I personally would love to see more 4b long hair naturals on YT. Especially you! I don't care about HD cameras, make up, or if you've got dust bunnies. Just be relatable.

Your hair ir GORGE!!! I highly encourage you to post some vids because there may be someone else out there with the same texture who would benefit especially if they have problems maintaining length and need to know what you have done to get to your length today.

Guuuurrrrllll, I say just go for it. I feel you on the what-can-I do-differently aspect, but as long as you do you (which is what I tell myself), you don't have to worry about oversaturation.

There is only 1 unique you.

Do your videos, start your YT channel. I'm about to do mine too. Vlogging might end up being something you're absolutely incredibly great at!

Who is sugar, back with another video baby!

This is a little late, but you should check out Nalia 1908 on Youtube. She's a thin-haired sister with Alopecia who has been able to gain fairly long hair. She posts great videos, and does some pretty cute hairstyles for thin-haired ladies!
