I have a male friend who I met in TX and he can be so arrogant sometimes. He was looking through my FB pictures and sends me a text saying he don't know why I always wear weave because I look better w/out it and plus I'm not fooling anyone.....smmfh!

I politely explained to him that not all black women wear weave to fool people...who cares what people think. I told him that I have goals when it comes to my hair and I'm not gonna cause any setbacks just because people want me to wear my real hair all the time....so he begins to act like he can't read a darn thing I text to him and still occuses me of tryna fool people or look a certain way...at this point I'm irritated and i may have called him slow lol...oops..o well..

He is one of those men who are in love with long hair and has a certain preference when it comes to women...he prefers them to be Mexican or I think any other race besides black women...so lame.

Anyone else have any stories to tell lol...I'm in a certain mood right now.

Hmm 50 views and no replies...i know i can't be the only one who has had someone say something dumb about not wearing your real hair often lol

Could be anything...buns, ponytails, etc..

I agree! He sounds like an a** who has no respect for Black women. Not worth the time, IMHO. He'll just keep ticking you off and hurting your feelings because he can... you're probably one of the only Black women in his life that's not family whom he feels he can take his hate out on.

You deserve a real friendship, sis. Don't sweat this hater...

I was actually surprise to hear him say that and besides he is all the way in texas and I am in Ohio. He doesn't talk down on black women but he just has a certain preference when it comes to the type of women he wants...he has dated all nationalities but prefers Mexican. He just don't understand why black women wear weaves, wigs, or why we don't wear our hair down all the time. Unfortunately a lot of black women in Texas have jacked up hair and still wear glued in weaves that further damages their hair...and he's not hurting my feelings lol...i just get irritated when i have to keep repeating myself...

But anyone else have stories similar to this from men or women of any color?

Yeah he sounds like a total jackass. I'm too old to deal with random acts of idiocy. I should add that I don't think this due to his female preferences, but more so the fact that he remarked on your pics and hair in a derogatory way.

I'd definitely set the "friend" standards higher than who? That guy.

Well, I didn't know jacked up hair was state specific!  I know some people in plenty of other parts of the US with jacked up hair!

Anyway, he's not worth the time of the day. Just my $.02

Lol its not really state specific but i noticed that in san antonio a lot of black women still wear weave w/glue on their hair more than anywhere else i have been.

Idk I thought that sharing stories of experiences similar to mine...or not even similar would have been a good woosah thread.....guess not lol :)

I have the same issue with a male friend of mine. Thing is he has a problem with anything a black woman does that challenges the typical "being black" stereotype. whether it's because your well spoken, can communicate with people of other races or have long hair etc.

When we first met he assumed i was relaxed and was wearing weave. when i told him i was actually natural and my hair was just flat ironed, he then said ahh typical light skin and long hair why dont you cut it short then or dread it?
(i'm not actually that light-skinned either and i am 4a/b)

Now I wear weave as protective style as i'm growing it to wsl and all i hear is "you don't know yourself" "black women don't know who they are and are letting the black community down"
and he tries to ridicule me for it.

then he goes on about relaxers and condeming black w for hiding their natural texture. Now his hair i shaved of completely, and i now that it is receding a bit in the centre but i had to say to him "okay where's your napps then? if your so proud why do shave it off completely....what you hiding? I then told him about why black m used to shave off their hair during slavery..............well that caught him off guard he was like uhh well err err:lachen:

so now he's moved on.......he's now convinced that hollywood film industry is trying to push black women to white men and make black men look un-appealing ever since he saw the film somethin new, :nono: nevermind the films we've seen in the past like Jungle fever & waiting to exhale again the problem is black women:nono:

I could go on and on but i'm sure the post has already reached novel status.........sorry i got carried away it's all been quietly brewing inside lol!

I'm sorry but I don't associate with people like that. I refuse to entertain pure ignorance. :look:
