Which Chi? I recently purchased the Tourmaline Ceramic Chi Ultra and I LOVED IT. Let me first say that I am a 3c/4a NATURAL curly nappy head. :)

I will post pictures. I want to try the FHI because I"m impressed with what the ladies had to say about it.

Ive heard of the Tourmaline Ceramic Chi on this board before. But I never see it online when I search, not even on folica. All I see is the regular ceramic irons. Where did you purchase your tourmaline ceramic chi??? -Melissa

Bumping for LovelyZ.

Thanks, I saw this post a while back but this didn't really answer my particular question. Some folks in my thread answered the question well.

I recently purchased a chi for my daughter. She is not permed and I love it! I have gotten rid of the other flat irons I had. I can do her hair in half the time and it last a lot longer. I even tried it on my hair in between perms and was very surprised. I do like the idea of the steam from the maxiglide, but for now I will keep the chi.

I love my Chi Flat iron! If I had a fire I would grab my daughter and my chi falt itron. My hair comes out silky smooth and shinny. I personally don;t use any other product when I use my flat iron ( for protection ) and I swear my hair has never been healthier. I think it seals the ends or something!! I love it!!

yes, get the maxiglide. the steam burst made my hair so soft. i believe that makes it better than other flat irons. its day 4 and my hair has not frizzed up yet.

Maxi..Oh How I Love Thee!

I gave up regular flat irons about 3 years ago. They just did not work for me. My hair seemed fuzzy and dull when I used it. And my new growth just laughed at it.

I used my Maxi on 20 week post relaxed hair. And can you say amazing, boys and girls!!!! It got my new growth straight and my hair was not dull or fuzzy. I can run my hands through my hair and it's straight from the new growth to the ends.

The size of the iron was never an issue for me. It seems easier to use then the flat irons I used to use. And I do not have the fear of burning my hair or scalp anymore.

So...my vote is for Maxi.

I bought the Maxi after reading the other topic on flat irons. I got mine at Bed, Bath & Beyond---using the coupon of course. I really like it. I love the steam burst. I was a little leery about the pins/teeth of the Maxi, but I realized once I took my time, combed out each section, and made sure not to clamp down so hard and pull, my hair looked great! It was very soft afterwards. I will be keeping it.

I have to agree...my CHI Flat iron is the BEST!!! I usually don't use any heat but when I do, I only use my CHI...:)

I use the Maxiglide and own a Chi. Maxiglide is FAR BETTER to me. Caution, I accidentally hit the steam button while it was close to my ear and OUUUCHHH....I did burn myself so be careful w/ the steam. I love the steam but make sure you are at least 2 to 3 inches away from the skin and scalp.

I love Maxiglide and if you want to see the results on natural hair - email me at [email protected].

Mine is up under my sink as well. I love my Maxiglide!

I love Maxiglide that I kicked my Chi to the curb. While I was transitioning, I use the Chi and its small size did come in handy for pressing my new growth.

Not that my hair is much longer (between bra strap and waist) I don't have to worry about new growth, so I bought the Maxiglide about a month ago. I LOVE IT!! The steam burst leaves me hair soft and shiny too.

Yall, the first time I used this, it was hot and humid outside and guess what...MY HAIR DID NOT FRIZZ AT ALL! (this was a problem that I had with my Chi). The only thing I changed was my flatiron, so I know it had to be the steam from the Maxiglide.

After that, I was 110% sold on it. My poor Chi is sitting under my sink in its box.

I've used both and they both have pros and cons. THe maxiglide's Steam feature is great it really helps straigthen nicely. I don't like that it's heavy though, it's hard on the hand especially working on the back section of the hair, that can be cumbersome. I like the CHI because it doesn't burn my hair, none of that burnt smell, but I don't like that the fact that it doesn't make my hair straight-straight. I Think my hot-tools or GOlden Hot really straightens my hair the best.

ITA. I love my Maxiglide!!

Well, as of today I own both the CHI and the Maxiglide, and I have to say that I will be selling my CHI soon on ebay. The maxiglide wins hands down! The CHI smooths the hair but it doesn't get it straight. The maxiglide smooths, silkens, and straightens my frizzy hair. I was so amazed, and my goodness, it is so much more than I expected. I am seriously thinking about going natural and straightening with the maxiglide. The maxi requires detangling before using it though. Some areas of my hair were knotty and I couldn't be bothered to detangle, and hair came out of those areas. Otherwise, it was fine. The iron does get hot. I used it at a 2-3 setting, and my hair was straight with one pass. Note that I used the maxiglide after I had blowdried and flat ironed with the CHI two nights ago. I bought the maxi today b/c my ends were so frizzy and I wanna look cute with my hair down today. I know...double heat with a flat iron = a butt whopping...but a girl's gotta look cute :)

I voted for Maxiglide. Once I used the maxiglide I gave away my other two flat irons. I love the steam burst. The iron is little big ( i think the plates are 4" wide) but I loved that because I got my hair done in almost half the time.

I use mine on the 3 or 4 setting on air dried hair. I use coconut oil and Ion Heat Protectant for shine and protection. I have used the flat plate and the one with the detangling pins. I got good results with both.

Same here. Once I used the maxiglide (which still sounds like a tampon to me). I gave my Chi away. That steam burst has no comparison.

ETA: I don't think it's heavy at all.

Welcome to the Maxiglide lovers! I have always want to try the Chi but I love my Maxiglide.

I love my Maxiglide but I do not like that detangling plate with the teeth so I put the regular plate in and it still get the roots and the steam still works but I want to get another one because I'm greedy. Also I put it on the lowest setting it can go and it seems like it is burning my hair. What's up with that? I think my problem was when I used it, I had washed my hair like two days before so it probably was dirty. I KNEW better I will only use the Maxiglide on CLEAN hair....yah, yah, I know....Always use it on CLEAN hair but I was in a hurry and going to a family reunion and decided at the last minute that I wanted to flatiron my hair...When I got back from the family reunion, I immediately washed and deep conditioned my hair...I felt so guilty useing that thang on my hair without being washed first.:)

I've never tried the Maxiglide although it does look like a good find. I use the Chi iron the same I use a curling iron. I get the straight and the curly body.

I've never used Maxiglide; all I know is Chi totally fried my ends. (Then again, this was pre-LHCF before I knew how to properly moisturize and protect). :look:

I don't have a Maxiglide, but I doubt anything can get my hair straighter than my nano Chi. And if you do decide on the Chi make sure it's the Nano one. For some reason it gets the hair straighter than the reg Chi and doesn't frizz up in humidity. I've had mine for over 3years and it still works like it did the first day.

I didn't vote (since I have only used one flat iron) but the Maxiglide was too big for me to use comfortably. I liked how my hair turned out, and I loved the steam burst, but I couldn't handle the bulky size, and I knew I'd never use it.

I sold it on Ebay (for 5 dollars more than I paid for it!) so if you do decide to try it (and it's too late to return it) you can probably sell it without losing money.

Good luck!
They have a smaller sized maxiglide the MP, it still has all the features of the maxiglide XP the larger one but the MP about 1-1/4" they also sell the miniglide to travel with, get edges with, and a good heat protectant/frizz blockers check it out @ www.hsn.com

I voted Maxiglide, no other iron rotating, flat, ceramic, whatever has given me the results that the maxiglide has. the only reason I sold my old original model was to buy the new one. I get body, shine, and my hair's never dried out when I use it, my curls always bounce back next wash, it is the best flat iron ever, IMO. :)

Maxiglide all day! My hair has a lot of body and now that it is short it gets kind of big. This flat iron with get your silky smooth and leave your hair soft.
