OMG! It looks so good! I was terrified every time I saw the informercial :nono: I just knew it would rip out every hair on my head.

How easy is it to use? Did you blow dry first? I need a blow-by-blow, lol

It is so easy to use. I shampooed with Elasta for relaxed and Joico KPak (both diluted), DCed with Giovanni Moisture and Joico KPak under dryer for 10 mins., and then did a conditioner rinse with TJ NourishSpa. We have hard water so final rinse with distilled water.

I sprayed with some Tresemme heat protectant. Then I went off track :lachen: and used some Infusium Repair something, made hair brick hard. So then rollersetting was out of the question. You can imagine how thick, hard and dense my stuff became. So then I broke out a little bit of the grapeseed oil (you know has high smoke point so won't burn hair), mixed with Chi Silk Infusion, and proceeded to blowdry with the Wanakee tension method.

After that, sectioned hair in four and bantu-knotted to stretch it. Added a little more grapeseed and CHI as I flat ironed.

You're a pro, so your method is down. Obviously the key is small sections, and gently combing each piece (with Denman and that small comb/brush) in advance. As long as hair is detangled and properly conditioned, and sections are small enough, it's a ONE PASS deal! The rolling action and the brush do the rest! The brush is soft enough not to damage hair, and when you put the piece of hair in it from the root and hold, it begins to rotate as you move it down the hair. I am so pleased with it, enuf said! :D

And a few raindrops fell on it, and no reversion yet on Day 4! I will report back when I wash if my curls don't revert.

nissi Why did you use disinfectant in your hair :giggle:

All jokes aside your hair is FIRE! it came out wonderful :)

 JJamiah, i was like, disinfectant? Then I saw my Lysol! :lachen: Thank you lady! You know your hair is glorious... :yep:

it looks really good! So I'm assuming it worked really well for you. Do you think you got any damage from it?

cutiepiesensei, hope not! but my hair could be a little debulked for my taste anyway, which is why I was moved to flatiron in the first place, it kept getting bigger and bigger as it keeps growing.

The grapeseed oil has high smoke point (will protect hair under high temperatures before it smokes), and the CHI has silk amino acids which gives additional protection, so I think I took enough precautions. Actually it started to revert mildly a little after one of my church's famous praise breaks :lachen:, so I think it will go back. Will report if not.

nissi Thank you so much. Hey you know I had to get that one LOL

See I never thought much about the instyler I kept giving it the :perplexed look

Your hair really came out great and straight! and it is not reverting which is awesome when you want to wear a straight dooo for the week :)

JJamiah, I know there's pushas on the forum and all, and I pretty much stay out of it!! But come on, both you and sipp100, ya'll know you wanna get it! :poke:

Beautiful!

Do you henna? I only ask because of the red highlights in your hair.

BostonMaria, thank you so much, your hair has inspired me to stay natural!
:yep:

Yes I henna, both for the color and the protection. Memba me in that thread about gray hair? I got some of the color you use based on that recommendation, just never used it and still have it in my stash. I used some brown henna from henna hut, but seemed like the indigo was a llittle irritating so we shall see, cuz it had excellent coverage... Using my old standby Avigal henna next...

It looks amazing...I'm not surprised though bc I've done my girls hair with it twice now. Just did it second time tonight I will post pics tomorrow! Again very lovely and thanks for sharing

HairPleezeGrow, wanna see, so please tag me! What do you use to get your hair so moist looking like in your siggy? Please share, because dryness and SSKs was another reason I wanted to flatiron... TIA! HHG!

Hey nissi

After I cleanse with it I just add a little back in and that's it unless I feel like I need more moisture I will add leave in. Uthsc hun!

I have one too. I love it. I am natural also, and it works well.

OP your hair looks beautiful :yep:

Your hair looks beautiful curly or straightened! Loving the thickness and results from the instyler.

I also just noticed our last relaxer was around the same time. My last was 7/16/10. You have great length retention btw

Looks great. I always give the I styler the side eye cuz a them bristles. I saw the infomercial where they have made it smaller and now they have different colours.

Thanks ladies for the kindness! I truly thank the LORD for the things I have learned on the forum over the years, and am just glad to be at peace with my hair! I said it before in my BC post, the Lord had given me the hair I wanted all along! I am so grateful to Him! God gave us beautiful hair!

beana, thanks lady! I spent almost all my transition in wigs, so that's probably why...
thanks cutenss, I have always loved your hair, and congratulations!!!! that ring!
guyanesesista, thank u kindly! TBH, I probably would not have bought it if my friend didn't BOGO... but now I love it! Prefer it over my Babyliss...and even my Maxiglide.

Thank you! :drunk:

I stopped using henna a few years ago because it was very drying. The last time I used it was 3-4 years ago and I STILL have red hair in the back and no matter how many times I dye it black, it stays red LOL

BostonMaria, my hair seems to like the henna, seems to give body and thickness so I guess I will stick with it...I did a lot of cowashing after the last henna, so maybe that helped. Since the press, my hair feels wonderfully balanced now, so pressing works better right now for me than wash and goes.

I still have your black dye, but now I don't think black hair is as flattering on me... I thought I read that henna attaches to the inner layer of the hair, so probably will neva come out. Oh well, I never noticed it in pictures I have seen of you...

Luckily its the back part of my hair near the nape area.

How many passes did you make. Some people say they can get away with one pass, others do 2 or 3. I'm currently waiting on my Instyler and I have a funny feeling, I'll fall into that 2-3 catergory.............LOL!

Brighteyes35, Once I got the hang of it and established my method, I realized I could make it happen with one pass if each piece of hair was small enough, properly detangled and I took my time with it. So I say that one pass is possible. Let me know how it goes!

How does it compare to the original Instyler?
