I usually go twenty minutes to deep condition but yesterday I did an additional 20 minutes (one more round on the heutiful).. and wow what a difference it was on my newgrowth.. combing through it was so much easier? is 40 minutes too long to do regularly??? How long do you ladies sit under your steamer?

Typically 30 minutes. If I do a PT before, then I do 40.

Only about 15 minutes because I get very restless:ohwell:

Wow u guys go pretty long .... No fear of over moisturizing and getting mushy hair?

I sit for 15 mins, I noticed no additional benefit when I sit longer.

I usually go at least 40 minutes once a week....my hair never has a problem with over moisturizing

I go 30 minutes whether I'm doing a protein treatment, moistuiring dc or a henna treatment. I never get mushy hair.

20-30min on a normal day 40min when I do henna

I do a total of 40minutes, but in 20 minute intervals. Goes something like this:

1. steam w/ AOGPB
2. add AOHSR in places that seem dry/need more conditioner
3. Steam session #2
4. Rinse out

I've found that putting more conditioner in the hair after the first session is helpful and by the end of the 40 minutes my hair is super moisturized and easy to come through

15 minutes. It gets hot under there and my forehead starts to burn. How are ya'll sitting under there so long?

Side note: I love steaming. I kick myself for waiting so long to try it.

Are any of u ladies high porosity?

About 20 minutes. I think that's how long the Huetiful steamer lasts without interruption. Any longer and I'd fall into a coma due to boredom. It's also hot! By the end of my 20 minutes, I am done!

ETA: I don't use it often, maybe 2 or 3 times a month and usually after a henna, protein treatment or tea rinse.

20-30 minutes twice a week. Sometimes I lose track of time and it's an hour.

@coyacoy

Yes, I am overly porous. I finish up with a PC Controlled Product as my Final Rinse. Right now I'm using Hairveda's ACV Phinising Rinse.

Others I have used are:
Nexxus Ensure Acidifying Conditioner
Bear Fruit Hair's Shine Rinse(s)
Roux Porosity Control

I used to do it for 40 mimutes (2 intervals of 20 minute) and I believe i overmoisturized my hair as i have been experiencing extreme breakage on my once perfectly healthy and even hair. I am desperately trying to repair it but it just doesnt seem to be getting better. I am so devestated.

Honi ,

Get a sweat band/head band. Put it around your forehead and ears.
