So....it took me 2 days of mental preparation...but i did it all by myself! I did my own small twists!

It took me 5 hours. I basically shampooed, detangled and DC'd and moisturized with water and my shea butter mix and sealed all that in with oil(sweet almond)...and i did some chunky plaits all over and went to sleep....the next day (Christmas Day actually...well evening of:look:)...i simply put my hair in 5 sections...and sprayed them with water and added just a TEENY dab of EcoStyler gel to each section and twisted:yep:

To maintain i simply band the ends (in 4 large sections) at nite and sleep with a bonnet on. In the morning i just spray my Oyin juice on them and sealn that moisture in with more almond oil.

I so proud of myshewlf:grin:

ETA:..the little hair fall issue i had a few days ago seems to have cleared up:)...i put twists in to give my hair a break.

Thanks everyone!:) The time actually went by pretty fast...i'm SO glad that i got the twists in the front to hold tho! I found that i have to do small twists in the front bc my ends in the front do not curl up like the ends in the back do :-/...it's irritating really.:fistshake:...i'm gonna see how long i can keep these in...i may only last a week.

Great work! One question: I just did this and I feel like I couldn't quite get the twists at my crown quite as tight as the ones around my hairline so I have a few inches of roots before the twists start in that section. Any tips?

They look cute! I love the third pic look! Also I'm hating how full and chunky they look compared to my puny ones. :p

prettypithy was it that your hands feel awkward braiding there? You arms get tired? I'm trying to understand what makes you find it different there?

I have that same issue....i did the ones in the front slightly smaller than the ones in the back, added a little more gel and did extra duty on twirling the ends around my finger.

Also...i made sure to twist tightly close to the scalp and make sure you pull the strands kinda tight as you twist. :)

SmilingElephant, I'm not able to understand why the crown is tricky? Is it that you can't coordinate fingers when held directly above you? Your arms get tired? Different texture there?

Yeah....the texture in the front for me is really loose....if i were to type it, it would be like a 3b in the front and then it gradually goes to 3c/4a to the back.

OK, that makes sense, otherwise if it was a hand placement thing (prettypity), I was gonna suggest either bending forward so that area is lower and you can rest elbows on something for comfort and twist, or tilt head to the side and have arms down and on that side.

SmilingElephant-I have the same issue with the front of my hair SMH I wouldn't even call mine 3b...it is a slight wave that is wiry & refuses to curl or do anything like the rest :nono: My crown and most of the rest of my hair is 4a and the back is 3c! Go figure. I make sure my mini twists in front are truly mini

^^Yeah....mine is like that! But when i do a wng...it does curl up...but when i do it in twists it wants to misbehave. I'm guessing it MIGHT be scab hair...idk...bc its the same texture at the root too....its SO aggravating!!:wallbash:
